That’s good to hear.
Maybe I was a bit overly appalled by my shipping costs which might have been more reasonable than I thought.
And I do like my Gong mPro curve. So much that I now have a large curve wing as well (haven’t had any time on it yet).
Thank you.
John

Shipping and taxes are a big expense. Im in same situation when I buy from USA. The govt charges us 25% sales tax on price of item + shipping+ customs fee. Ive complained to tax authority that they are charging sales tax on a shipping service thats not in their tax jurisdiction. You can imagine that that worked....

i probably placed 15 different orders over the summer with gong, going to usa, i also thought the shipping was a bit out of line, a couple times my order would cancel, and I would re-order it,,,and get a fairly different shipping amount. i would have liked to try their stuff but the whole order process was more than i could handle. also tried paying once or twice but cc got denied,,, you have to pay in euroes i found out later. kinda glad,,, i found nice stuff closer to home and my dollars went to a good old local company ( GO SLINGSHOT!)

a local friend bought their stuff and loves it. looks nice too. i briefly rode the classic version i think,, very nice and smooth during my short demo, can't go wrong,,, couldn't make it work on the pro version but it was totally me, not the wing.

i ordered a drysuit from the UK,,, 30$ shipping,, arrived in 4 days via ups i think! no duties. would love to give gong a try when shipping gets sorted out. i don't think there is much savings if you are ordering from usa, in my opinion.

It's interesting that the new Gong 85cm carbon mast seems to be more or less continually "sold out", while the 100cm mast is not. This suggests that 85cm is the overwhelming favourite length choice for kite foilers (& possibly wing foilers also).

What would be the advantage of a 85 cm Mast? I rather see disadvantages, especially with carbon where flex / weight are not an issue...

Flex comes in two forms: one in the lack of solidity between the connecting parts of a foil & two in the actual flex of the material. As I understand it, aluminium, as a material, flexes less than carbon, but may flex more at the connecting points between mast base & board & mast bottom & fuselage.

Longer masts give more room for error when it comes to breaching, but less responsive when carving. 85 - 90 cm seems like a good length all-around, except if you are racing, speeding or jumping, where the extra length gives you more leverage.

Would a 100cm mast not allow for more radical jibes?

Also, those who have tried the 100cm carbon mast : is there really any noticeable flex VS a shorter mast?
