iUp by Taaroa - the first intelligent hydrofoil

I'm blown away by the constant innovation taking place in this industry. Foils have breathed new life into every aspect of water sports. It will be interesting to see how intelligent flaps add to the fun factor. Cause it's all about fun right? :thumb:

Well, just a decision to make:

1. if you want to teach your body (muscle memory) a software version x.y, then go for it.

2. if you want to learn a sport your body will remember for the rest of your life, then better go with something that doesn't try to make its own brain.

Oh, ... and just make sure they don't do over the air upgrades while you are 2 miles out, at least if you want to come back.

Coming soon: show up at the beach and send your autonomous foil board and kite out to go surf the waves while you take a nap.

Is foiling really that hard?

I'm not sure it's such a great application for kite-foiling.

However, for e-foiling I think it's an excellent idea. As kiteboarders we take for granted all the board skills we have learned over 100's of hours.

Here is a video of Will Smith learning to E-foil. I'm sure he would have appreciated some extra help with an "intelligent foil". Same for many other people who would love to try the sport but without a strong boardsports background.

Seems like a great application for a sail boat with foils and maybe even efoil but don’t see the point either for kite or wave foiling.

And it’s not even April fools day ...

It must be quite sofisticated to get it to work as it needs to understand your intention as well / force sensors / ... how else would it know how to pitch and roll? Interesting.

Impressive technology but..

It's a solution in search of a problem.
