Here where I ride when have two beaches that has a "U" shape so in some parts I always have a good wind direction.
Most of time i can approach the wave do a 180° , using the wave and feel it to push me. One of best sensations, glide the wave and don't feel the kite pushing you is another one.

The right sized sandy bay can be the absolute bomb! Start at one end in small swell, work your way down the beach through the best waves from side on, through dead onshore, then side on again and then finish at the other end of the U shape. A short tack across the top of the bay and your back at the start! There is one of these a short few km away as the crow flies. Too bad its a wait in line for a half hour ferry ride, only 10 min drive, but a 2 km walk in. Less time and hassle to drive to a beach over an hour away so the guys on the island never have to worry about a crowd! Sick spot tho, worth the work in a strong South.
