Hear the silence

Meet the SLC Foil – a carbon and aluminum hybrid with options to suit every foiler. With every detail and material choice thoroughly tested, it brings newfound confidence to surf spots and freestyle slicks.

Yes, it’s really that easy to silently glide around in virtually no wind. The freedom is indescribable, touring your lagoon or coast with no regard to wind direction on your SLC.

Meet the SLC Foil – a carbon and aluminum hybrid with options to suit every foiler. With every detail and material choice thoroughly tested, it brings newfound confidence to surf spots and freestyle slicks. Co-developed with the foil, our all-new SLC Foilboard is a full carbon wonder that makes your first or thousandth session a blast.

Foilers will appreciate the SLC’s stability and gentle rise. Freestylers and wave foilers will value its trick-friendly light weight and predictable wing performance. For those ready to try, now is the time to jump on the SLC. And the rest of you, its elevated performance will surprise you.

Light and durable. Carbon’s anisotropic properties make aluminum a better allround choice for the mast. Our mast weighs about the same as carbon and better resists bending. The same properties make carbon the better choice for wings. Our high performance, featherweight wings feature self-stabilizing tips.

More competition, good for all
...Carbon’s anisotropic properties make aluminum a better allround choice for the mast...
Are we at verge of foil design revolution or it’s a misleading marketing claim? So far aluminum masts were either light and bending or stiff and heavy.

Trying to explain production cost savings (and/or lack of carbon production capabilities) as benefit for consumers while positioning company as premium...a lot like claiming that Wartburg 353 3-cylinder ugly piece of junk is built of BMW legacy (it is but it didn’t make it BMW).

Wait, also Microsoft was saying how DoubleSpace is making computer work faster because there’s compressed data will be read faster off the drive.
Yes, it’s really that easy to silently glide around in virtually no wind.
You still need 7 knots to kitefoil
... freedom is indescribable, touring your lagoon or coast with no regard to wind direction on your SLC.
Do not foil in offshore winds. This is dangerous and it’s a careless encouragement
...it brings newfound confidence to surf spots and freestyle slicks.
never lost that confidence...foiled for last 5 years happily but thanks to Core for finding it for “us”

Interesting claim indeed.
Not sure what magic aluminium it’s made of but with pricing pretty much similar to a full carbon Moses setup I would be very hesitant to buy this over the proven track record of Moses.
I would say they are a challenger in the market with also a very limited ecosystem compared to Moses. At similar prices I would not know why you would chose this.
If I was in the market for a new foil I would really need to see some independent parties that would backup the claims.

(Core website suggests 1400 euro for the foil including mast)

Just my 2cts

Not sure if this could currently compete with established foil brands...
As you said, I am not sure that most people would buy on the claim that alu mast is better than carbon..
It mostly exists as a budget option.. but CORE is asking premium for it..
why would you bother with "hybrid" rig if you can get moses 633 carbon setup for same or less..

It’s for folks who want to be loud about their wealth. Maybe this foil setup is a punishment for that sin.

And five years later Core will “bring newfound confidence” introducing their winging gear.

So let’s treat is very seriously - whoever has first SLC setup and can compare it side by side with Liquid Force Fish foil - please share the findings. The $1400 price tag was what LF priced theirs at back in spring 2015, so cost is comparable if you don’t consider exchange rate.

That is going to be a tough race!
Our mast weighs about the same as carbon and better resists bending
I’d love to see a pic of carbon mast which Core R&D managed to bend. Till then I call it bluff and dishonest marketing claim

Maybe their marketing dept was pressing engineers with something like “but if you measure carbon mast before resin cures, you can say it’s bending easier than our aluminum”
...our all-new SLC Foilboard is a full carbon wonder that makes your first or thousandth session a blast.
Do they mean it like a blast to one’s ego and self-confidence? From what I’ve seen and heard the first foil session is humbling AF even for folks who had been kiting for decade

So would SLC Make Foiling Great Again?

What does SLC stand for? I suppose that’s not actually important.

Foil and board look nice but it’s strange a premium image brand like Core going for aluminum mast. I guess it leaves room for a carbon model down the road. Love the jargon.... anisotropic..... so Core! Try that argument with a cyclist!

Any marketing that mentions “feather light” should publish figures. Especially when stating their mast is light as carbon.

Publishing weight of both foil and board goes a long way in establishing value. Especially when it’s a new entry in the market. Need more than good looks. I mean it’s not like they don’t know it. They chose to publish board volume to half a litre.

Kauper kites capitalized on disclosure and put their new market entry way up on a lot of people’s list right at launch with impressively light published weights. Would help side step the perceived issue of not having a track record in foil design or build quality.
