Jshapes

Hi all,

Anyone know what is going on with Jshapes? Website is under construction and the Facebook page last update was 2019. I’m assuming they have folded.... but hope not. Very clean gear.

Thanks.

The web site is up and accepting orders, which are being fulfilled.

I bought a spare mast and Cruzer foil and some bags. My existing J Shapes gear has over 600 hours on it and still looks and works like new. With a spare kit I can see me riding the same gear through the end of the decade. :D

I wouldn't suggest that J Shapes gear is the "best", but I don't see anything coming on the market that I want to buy. Full carbon sandwich construction. Super robust (see 600 hours of jumping and wave play and bashing into the bottom). Feather light. Reasonably priced. Minimal screws. No aluminium. Very user friendly. What more could you want?

Any of the big brands have aluminium masts, lots of screws holding everything together. Many are going to aluminium fuselages. Shims. A million tails and wings that may or may not make a difference. Yuk, yuk and yuk!!! These foils might be stiffer and have other great attributes, but I don't see anybody doing things on their premium brand expensive stuff that I can't do on my J Shapes.

The only things I can't get from J Shapes is a full on race foil. Why compete with Mike's Lab and the other specialist race brands? And for wingfoiling only GoFoil offers the huge wings with a configuration and ease of use similar to J Shapes.

Antione is still around but I don't think he is going to expand his existing range of foils. It's a shame because his foils are excellent and I would have bought a compatible high aspect large foil for wingfoiling if he made one. He has been building custom wingfoil boards to order and I notice he uses a GoFoil on his personal board.
