Slingshot WF-2 for kitesurfing?

Postby Mitchel_12000 » Tue Apr 06, 2021 2:32 pm

Hi all,

I'm interested in starting with hydrofoiling this summer and was wondering if the Slingshot WF-2 is suitable for use with a kite. I really like the idea of a softtop board and the WF-2 is also quite affordable (E.550,- for a complete set at Amazone). So is it oke for gaining some experience with foil-kiting?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, i'm a complete rookie when it comes to foiling so enlighten me :-)

Which Amazon?! I've been looking for a deal on that board since quite some time (the grey/black/orange one)!
The board is absolutely fine for a beginner. The hull is relatively flat as it is a wakesurf board (I mean no beveled rails) and that gives you extra stability when you touch down and ride the board for a while until the next take off.

I also took a look at that board, and it seems perfect for learning and later a lighter wind board, for average weights.

You can also check the Slingshot Simulator - also full EVA padded deck and rails like the WF2, but it's way too big for me at 5'6".
Beware that both have single front strap inserts, center lined up. For kitefoiling 2 front straps is a better option once you progress a bit.

LF POD is very similar to WF2, but smaller and thicker:
4'4"x19.5", 18.7L vs 4'10"x20", 18,9L
