There there,

You have to learn the feel the kite. Forget looking at it. Feeeeeeel it. Let the energy course through you, tune into it, use the force.

Sheeted just right strutless kites really don't flap much.

They are pretty easy to make flap, but its still rider error. The longer you ride them, the better you get at it.... Unless your out in too much wind for the size kite your on.... then your simply overpowered and that is that.

Short lines help loads to mitigate flapping.

I just dont let it bother me. UFO has a pretty good top end too. It makes some noise but isn’t really a problem in too much pull. For me the sweet spot is about 15-20 but up to 25 is no problem.

no, i need some damn sympathy. it's my first strutless you cyber bully!
You want what? So you bought a kite with zero advice about one of its fundamental flight characteristics and thats some one else’s fault?

notice that you should minimize flutter by pulling the bar a bit as it causes more wear to the canopy

great session on my 5m ufo yesterday, love that kite.

getting a lot of fluttering though when bar pushed out during a transition, in my case, the kite arcs above me during a gybe, so i sheet out bar to reduce lift. the kite flaps a lot. i am not a fan of downlooping the kite for a gybe as i lose too much speed bringing the kite more overhead to prepare for the down loop, i suspect this is just my technique, the kite works fine when normally powered up, just when i punch that bar out, it starts flapping like crazy when depowered. suggestions?
Don't worry about it.

Are you using it while foiling? I's normal to want to mitigate the power by sheeting out when coming through the turn on a foil. The result is a couple of seconds of flapping until you re-establish back line tension. It also happens with my wave kites when foiling. I don't notice that happening with my SB - presumably because I keep more power (back line tension) in the kite as I gybe.

yah,, i know that actually,,, i am so used to punching my bar out from my hyperlink during the turns that it is carrying over when i go down to my 5m lei,,,

bear in mind,, i am not worried about the sound,, i am just wondering about long term damage on the trailing edge,, kind of how a flag looks after a while from the wind.

i guess i just wont' worry about it and power it up more,, i will figure it out. thanks!

the ufo's are amazing kites!
