mixing front wings og rear wings

Postby Mikkelza » Wed May 05, 2021 1:54 pm

Hi foilers,

I have acquired several wings and have a few fuselages. For the fun of it, and because it could be nice to have fuselages mounted with wings ready to use, I have started to mix front and rear wings.

Any experiences with that? Some general 'rules' or something to be aware of?

Overview of my wings, if needed to give input:

FRONT WINGS
Cloud IX S24: 1126 cm2
Cloud IX P27: 1406cm2
Liquid force thruster: 650cm2
Liquid force happy foil medium aspect wing (not sure of the name, and do not know area)

REAR WINGS
Cloud IX rear wing designed for both S24 and P27: 307cm2
Liquid force thruster: 280 cm2
Liquid force happy foil medium aspect wing (not sure of the name, and do not know area)

NOTE: Beside the cm2 of the wings, they look very different, but that is kind of hard to describe..

The smaller the rear wing, the more lively and fun it becomes - and a tad more difficult to master foot switches if you are learning.

Also, the smaller the rear wing, the more aft you have to stand on the board (or move the mast forward in the track).

Thats about it - otherwise just mix everything all that you like.

If mixing between foils, you should of course be aware to shim if very different, so you get about the same relative angle of attack between wings.
