It's hard to judge from a cell phone video, but the actual wind in the video clip of the Peak 8m looks to me more like 8 - 10 mph. There may have been a lull earlier which dropped all the other kites, at which point it was impossible to relaunch.
I came across this video:
That looks like a possible 6-7 knots ... or at the most 7 - 8 knots. I would be up for that on a nice, sunny day. It's appealing to be cruising in very light winds & a beautiful setting. An 11m Peak would make that possible. However ... how often do you get winds that are a consistent 6 - 8 knots at your local? If the wind lulls to 4 or 5 knots for a couple of minutes you may be stuck. More to the point ... how often do you get winds that are 6 - 8 knots & stay at that level for two or three hours? There are places where that happens - sea breeze - but where I am it's more likely that the wind is on the way up - in which case you may be better off waiting for an hour until you can use a smaller kite - or on the way down - in which case you will end up swimming.

^This^ We are faced with this dooms-day low wind scenario often here in Sandy Ego. Not very often do we get a really fun, consistent, 7-8mph wind. Lulls to 5mph can be ridden through, as long as they don't last too long or are dispersed throughout the bay.
The wind in that other video was about 7-9mph.
I have not flown a peak yet. Will try to in the next week or so, wind willing. The 6m Kitech flies as expected; range down to about 11mph (tops out for me around 25mph), but not very fun at that low wind speed. Probably cannot get back up on foil in that wind. But wow, what a fun kite to fly in 15+mph average wind. Looking forward to flying the 4m this summer.
You mean the Norwegian video? it's really hard to judge exactly what the wind strength is, but it certainly looks very steady. I can say for sure that I would not be able to get going in that much wind with my 6m Peak4. I can see that jumping up to the 11m would do it. A Kitech/Soul/Hyperlink or a race kite would offer more speed/perfromance - especially in a larger size - but the Peak4 might deliver a more relaxed kite for low wind cruising with less expense & less hassles. I'm going to see how the 6m Peak pans out for me this summer. Last summer I was getting at least 3 - 4 days a week using tube kites, without chasing sub 10 knot days, which is enough for me.
Hi
I am 62kg and use 11m peak for sub 10knot.
I am not experienced but today riding 3 hours on 5-10 knots I have to swim twice... Kitefoil override during gybes.
Maybe not the funniest kite, but Just do not falls from the ski until there is almost no wind.
Wing gong rise 1500
Hope it helps

Yes the Roam Aluula is pricey, but still lower cost than the good racefoilkites same power.
Please be more spesific, let's take adventurekiteboarding as an example which sells FS, OR and OZ. Are you referring VMG/R1 with "good racefoilkites" as a comparison or "similar freeride usage" as roam?
- Sonic3 9m = $1999
- Sonic3 11m = $2169
- Soul1 8m = $1618 (ref. Borja's comment Soul1 8m gets 100+kg going around 8kn)
- Chrono4 11m = $2439
- Hyperlink2 9m = $2024
- Hyperlink2 11m = $2094
- Roam Aluula 2021 12m (remember "same power") = $2428
- Roam 5m is the same price as Soul1 8m, and not even close to usable range

I'd agree with this and it's a myth that foil kites are expensive for non-racers..what do I mean..Well if you are racing you want to have the latest and greatest all the time like brand new VMG2..however for general freeriders, and non-racers you can easily find very good foil kite under 2K and some of them will last a long time like Soul/Sonic. When it comes to light wind (sub 10) most prefer going fast on a big foil kite to carving around on an LEI but I understand that is a personal preference as much as physical limitation..I'm glad "fun" doesn't mean the same to everyone or else we'd have crowded spots
