Sabfoil Moses 950 vs 940 vs 945

Postby addictedtofoil » Tue Jun 08, 2021 9:55 pm

Which one to choose, mostly riding harbor chop and the occasional swell.

I am 95-100kg, average winger, I have the 1100 and looking for something easier/more fun to turn, and almost as easy to get on the foil, as wind conditions are sketchy.

Any feedback on these wings?

950 might be borderline small of those wings

Nope. The 940 is much smaller

Exactly. What I’m saying is even 950 will be borderline small for 100 kilo person and other two wings at 1300-1100 sq.cm will not be appropriate

FYI: I am an experienced kite foiler 800/400 my favourite setup, unless I want to boost high then I go for 695/400. I can't believe I am the only 95kg+ guy winging using SABFoil, and surely everyone else wants more than the 1100 can offer...

800 is an awesome wing, I love mine!
Winging takes larger wings than kitefoiling though.
I think Moses needs a wing in between 950 and 1100, maybe even better 1100 for bigger riders.

Yeah I understand that winging is different, but I'm on a 5'4 110L board, and such a big wing isn't very agile compared to the 800 and a 1m kite board. I was thinking that the 940 would be best of them all as the aspect ratio is 8, therefore more efficient once moving, even though the surface area is smaller than the others. Looking for more advanced riders opinions. Cheers

You can ignore the cm2. They are super misleading. The 950 works well for a 100kg person in winds over 15 knots. I have 3 or 4 local customers in that weight class and they are happy with the 950 for that. It has more lowend and glide than the 790 which is "bigger" according the surface area.

The 940 is the "smallest" of the range and needs the most wind. I am looking forward to eventually getting a 945 from Sab to test. They say it is better for pumping and as such should be in the range of the 950 or maybe even better.

Thanks Gunnar, looks like I should get the 950 or wait for a 945 review. I have a 56L 5'4 board on order and will use that with a 1000 that I have, but not too keen to use the 1000 on the 5'4 110L

yes so an additional question is will you have more lowend on the small board with the 950 then on the 110L? Assuming there is enough wind to waterstart the 56L?
