I have the 11m. I also struggle gibing downwind. As other said I usually point upwind to tension, turn the Kite first then I follow the Kite.
Under 6knot sometimes losse tension and the Kite colapse, in that case left the bar and pull as hard as you can from the front lines... I usually recover and keep foiling
If I am very close to the shore, I sometimes... Try downlooping but, until now poor succes.
In sub 6knot conditions, you must be ready to swim, your best friend is a big board (wing type is perfect)
Hope it helps

Not many has talked about line length.
Using 28-30 meter lines on the 11 or 13 m2 makes looping and downlooping much better and easier.
Even with the 8 m2 i use 28 m lines because of 8 knots of wind only and slow turning.
6 m2 and down, short 21 m lines, no advantage really with longer, and even shorter works for some riders.
Peter.

Ii use (primarily) a MFC hydros.. I don’t remember if it’s the 1250 or 1400.
Pretty sure you can pump most surf foils back to shore ...just use pull the power from your legs up...esp if/when waves and wind is working with you.
