Minimalism+1
What do you do for a safety system?
Not needed. Too many accidental releases. Foil only, when kite correctly sized, just letting go of the bar is enough.
Seriously?

I would never ever use a bar without a safety system. A full QR system can be added for around 100 grams / 3 oz. The increase in complexity is minimal, and there are no accidental releases. Infexion QR + safety ring from Kite Attitude

I've been using the Duotone Click Bar and more recently the Infexion Bar with the seatbelt quick release.
Since using the Infexion bar I have not used the click bar.
Click bar has rear line on-the-fly depower but I rarely used it on the foil.
Infexion has rear line trim adjustment but can't be adjusted while riding.
Infexion safety is built-in, no leash to harness needed and light as a feather.
I have yet to need trim adjustment while riding the infexion, super long bar throw.
Both bars are very clean on the front lines, stopper only.
I prefer the Infexion but the click-bar is also good.

I've had every kind of shackle self release. I wouldn't use a kite without some kind of backup attachment. The other day I bumped my chicken loop twice and it released both times. I was able to re-assemble the loop and hook in without stopping. I was pleased with that. :-)

The early bow kites worked with no additional safety. You just released the bar and the travel of the depower was sufficient. It's still nice to have a leash. I can remember maybe 8 times in 20 years when I've needed some kind of safety leash because of storms or malfunctions of some kind, even with foil kites.

It would be easy enough to do a home build of a Pintxo style tube with a safety line running down the middle of it.

I've experimented with trimless long travel bars. I am tall with long arms and can handle it. My very long trimmer bars are soooooo much more versatile and user-friendly. Maybe a long travel bar with a super simple stop-and-adjust rear line system might work.

I like a trim block to set the trim in the right spot , not because I am overpowered. Location of this spot I find very important .
