Sabfoil / Moses Bigger 799 wing - please scale up to 1500-1700cm

Postby addictedtofoil » Fri Aug 06, 2021 5:53 am

Sabfoil 799 is a great wing for winging, please Sabfoil can you scale this wing up to 1500-1700cm for heavier riders 90kg+. Not too wide if possible...

I think a 1500-1700cm version of the 799 could be a great light wind winging foil and perhaps a great prone wing for bigger guys.

Your thoughts?

Yup. People complain that 1100 is too big, 790 is too slow and bulky and 950 initially mentioned as 1600 sq.cm was the hope which somehow shrunk into 1350 sq.cm and the gap stayed opened. Things shrink in cold

Yeah I have the 1100 and 950, looking for an alternative wing to replace these, 950 too close to 799 and not as fun and 1100 way to big.

I don't know anyone who has a 790, in my opinion they definitely has a gap in their range for prone surfing and light wing winging, but I think they could solve this with a bigger version of the 799 for light-medium wind and prone, hopefully not too wide.

The 940 is too close to the 799 which makes it redundant, 945 is basically the same as the 950 but without downturned wingtips and 799 is more playful than 950, so that makes it redundant.

I believe you only need two wings for winging, light-medium wind (bigger 799) and high wind (799), just my opinion mind you

I don't want to change brands for prone and light wind winging....hopefully they come up with something soon, but I have been waiting for a while now

What you’re saying Moses has made 799/940/945/950 all in 1100-1350 sq.cm range and nothing around 1700 besides old fat 790 surf wing.
They absolutely did it again, interesting decision making, more art than business…

While waiting for SAB Moses to produce a bigger area 950 I bought an Axis 1050 Black series .
This wing has proven to be a perfect fit between the 950 and 1100.

Yes the Axis 1050 black series looks good, except I have a friend who has a nightmare experience with Axis, fuselage breaking etc, but Axis is generally popular in my spot for wingers and prone. It just requires an investment in new masts etc but I know there is a project cedrus mast, but I already have 3 Moses masts, I guess if I can sell some of these it maybe an option.

I was actually thinking about starting to invest in an Armstrong setup as for light-medium wind winging and prone you don't need high performance fast foils, but I haven't had the opportunity to demo any gear and I don't know anyone my weight who uses them for a reference point

I think in general the winging market is aimed at teenage boys or small men < 70-80kg, the rest of the market > 80kg has been forgotten

:) lol yes, well I've had an expensive journey finding the right wings that work, 695/800/799 and a scaled up version of 799 is all you need in my opinion.

I wonder what their R and D process is, any riders in > 90kg range, using in 10-15 knots, I think not.

In Sydney no one can wing in 10 knots and no one does, and for that matter no one really does under 15 knots and if they do it is with great difficulty, that light wind winging koolaid died fast here :)
