Hi all, I received a concerning email from a client who purchased an axis adapter and intended to use it with his Triton. Any Cedrus owners reading this, or prospective Cedrus clients, please DO NOT use an adapter with the Triton monowing. I am happy to be clear and honest with you all. I have studied every single foil connection in great detail from about 2014 onwards. I know which foil connections work best, and which do not, after years of engineering analysis, testing, customer feedback, and I've learned a thing or two on forums. There are a few adapters that could in theory work with Triton and now I will tell you why they don't:
1) Slingshot Hoverglide. While the monowing may have been designed around this mast, this connection relies on a butt joint between two planar and parallel surfaces for proper load transfer. The wider the contact surfaces, the stronger the joint. This is why many of my clients have issues with Slingshot hoverglide systems: the mast is too thin for a butt joint. Bending moments about the wing (due to roll, jumping) will increase tension in the fasteners to a point of yield, causing them to loosen or break. Nothing against slingshot here, but let's be honest, this is an older connection system and simply doesn't have the strength as some of the newer ones. Project Cedrus adapters also rely on a butt joint, but the mast is 19mm thick which results in an incredibly strong joint. Especially with the newer hardware, which is 50% stronger than standard A2/A4-70.
2) Axis. This adapter, like the doodad, is designed to fit inside the fuselage. It is not designed to function as a butt joint, for both structural and hydrodynamic purposes. Do not attempt to use a tuttle-like interface on top of a planar surface intended for a butt joint.
3) Moses/SAB. The original Moses/SAB M6 connection is now obsolete for good reasons: M6 hardware is simply inadequate for foils. I have a whole blog entry about this topic here: https://projectcedrus.com/general/hardware/ I do not reccomend using the Moses/SAB M6 adapter with Triton.

As discussed on this thread, the best option for connecting the monowing is to elongate the slot and connect directly to Project Cedrus. I know some of you have reservations about modifying your wing. So, I am willing to make a monowing adapter if someone can send me their wing or if Triton would like to share the CAD. I shared my Cedrus interface with them years ago, however for some reason they decided not to make the monowing directly compatible with Project Cedrus.

Thank you, Kyle @ Project Cedrus

Triton adapter has been designed and added to the shop: https://projectcedrus.com/product/fuselage-adapters/
Limited time pricing of standard adapters unless continued demand warrants larger machining runs and holding inventory.

Thanks Kyle for making it and Triton for sharing the specs! This is going to be the lightest, stiffest setup available. All carbon except the adapter and board mount. Also solves my problem mounting the T1 to boards with fixed bolts.

On our trip to Oahu, we decided to try tow-in foiling, and the T1 delivered big time!

You clearly can use a Triton for tow in surfing.
My question : why WOULD you, given the nature of these waves?

I had the first ride on my t1. Position of the mast is in the middle of the track system.
It was very back foot heavy.
How do I get a more neutral distribution ?

Move it forward?

Stand further back?

Combo of both maybe?

I moved my feet backwards during my ride but I did not feel that this lowered the pressure.
Triton wrote to put backfoot in front of the mast, which I did at the beginning, after some time I moved backwards as I felt the pressure on my backfoot.
I was riding in very low winds, maybe due to the low riding speed I had to maintain a higher angle to generate uplift?
I will move the mast more towards my frontfood and see if that gives a more balanced position.

Good questions. You should not have a back heavy foot feel. To avoid this move the mast back in the track and line your rear foot up over the leading edge of the mast. This will give you balanced pressure and move you generally forward on the board - hence we move the mast track back to compensate for this. The key thing is your rear foot must be over the leading edge of the mast. Second, every wing has a wind range so if it’s light 11-9kts we would recommend a large kite, bigger board and some understanding you are at the wings limits. This is especially true for heavy riders (over 100kg). If you are a heavy rider it’s not going to work in light wind. Wait until is 15kts + and ride with again a kite a size up or two than normal.

Let us know how it goes!
