Nice setup! My T1 finally arrived but it seems winter has fully set in. I’m hoping for a few warm days before heading to Baja in February. Fortunately it is so pretty that I’m calling it art and leaving it on display in my living room!
Thanks for posting the pics - I thought that since the board was so short you may have needed to slam the mast base as far back as far as possible on the board.
I’m curious because the microchips are back in stock a few places. Are you finding the mast placement okay? During my test ride on the Triton board the rear foot strap was very slightly ahead of the center of the mast - maybe 1/2” to 1”. With the track in the microchip it looks like your rear foot would naturally be well behind the mast, especially if you want to use the little ramp.
I haven’t had the chance to ride my own yet so I don’t know what I will settle on, but the foot on or just ahead of the mast seemed to work well and that isn’t going to be optimal on the microchip.
Regarding the placement, using the Triton baseplate, the front bolts are close to the centre bit where you insert the flats. You need to choose to go right back in the tracks to get the front bolts behind the holes, or go about an inch further forward to be in front of the holes. I started right back (fully back) and couldn't get up on the foil. I came in and moved forward of the hole and it's perfect. Front foot has 100mm forward to spare and rear foot isn't hard up against the kick tail.

Could I please request a v2 wing that is like 10%-15% larger but with the same fun feel to ride? The last 2 days were right on the lower limits here, dropping off the foil in the lulls. I could have switched to my Axis HPS 930 which would have had the extra glide to ride through the lulls... but I'm spoiled by the T1 now and it's too boring to bother with.
Also that pic above does my nut in a bit. The board is in perfect profile but the wing is angled 20-30 degrees towards the camera. I'm sure it's lens distortion (or maybe photoshop) but it feels like it needs a banana mast to make it work. It shows what you want to show really well but it feels.. wrong... as a pic somehow. Does anyone else see that or is it just me?
Just received my T1 foil setup with their 85cm mast and got in 2 nice sessions this weekend.
My background:
Skill: Intermediate.
Can gybe, switch feet and sit down and ride (all on my Axis setup). Only riding foil for ~ 8 months.
For first session on the T1, I came in a bunch to adjust the mast. For me, it worked better up towards the front of the board. My Axis is way towards rear of my board.
Bottom Line: Pretty cool wing... Definitely more pitch sensitive than my Axis setup and feels way lighter. Turns on a dime and breeching isn't as violent at speeds. Had a couple of times were it breeched, skimmed top of water and then was able to ride off again.
Definitely likes more power and doesn't glide like my Axis setup (used 6m and 8m Peak 5s).
Was my first time using a floating foil setup. Easier to get out to deep water but tricky to body drag to after a big crash.
I can notice there is less drag/no sound and it seems plenty fast for my needs. The simplicity of not having all the parts (fuse/rear wing and more bolts) to deal with is a plus.
I'm now looking to downsize to a smaller board. I don't think I'm ready for a Naish Microchip yet. And I like to use a single perpendicular front strap for water starts (move foot out once up) and body dragging. Looking at the Slingshot range of boards. Maybe the new Hope Craft.
Will check back in after I get some more hours under the T1!
