Recommendations wing next to 633 Sab/Moses

Postby leeuwen » Sun Sep 05, 2021 1:04 pm

I am considering getting an extra wing in addition to my 633 Sabfoil. What would you recommend and why?
There is quite a big line up which seems to potentially fit: eg 740/695/679/590Y

Experience is almost 1 year of foiling, around 75 sessions probably.
I have 90cm mast and mostly ride in flat/chop.
I usually free ride so can do tacks/jibes. Want to learn to sit on the board and other “tricks” and eventually maybe jumping but since I ride strapless that will be a bit of a challenge.
I feel the 633 is a bit draggy so I would like a wing that gains and sustains speed and glides more easily.
75 kg and no intentions to go into full racing mode.

I don’t mind needing to buy an additional fuselage and stabilizer as well.

Hi. Swapped 633 into 679 and that was an excellent choice. The 679 wing is really cool. It is much more fun and agile than the 633. It goes better against the wind and you can swim faster on it.

Interesting thread. I actually am going in the opposite direction with wings. First I got a 590, then a 679, and I just got a 633. The 679 is a great wing and I recommend it, but you'll lose some low end when compared to the 633. If you want to learn a new transition and want to creep slowly through it, the 633 is probably the best tool. I got the 633 to facilitate learning weakside/toeside tacks/360's, foot switches and sit-on-board tricks. I use straps primarily to jump the 679, although the 590 is much faster and jumps well. I don't use the 590 as much as the 679. The 590 is a higher wind wing. I think you'd enjoy the 679 for all around use. You can use it in higher wind than the 633, and it's big fun. But hang on to your 633 for those light wind, chill sessions. :thumb:

Get yourself a race stabilizer first and see what it does... it changes the 633 wing to the better as far as drag is concerned...

679=683 right?

If so recently swapped a 633 out for the 683 based odd recommendation from this forum. I love it.
I think the best compromise between 590 and 633. Low end is great, stall is gentle , highe speed good , uowind good . Very fun . I have it on 330 stab

With surf fuselage you have for 633 there are some wings you can fit on it to ride with less drag and more fun. 679/683s/720 are Moses options or Phantasm 730 if you can find it for sale.
If you’re willing to add a kite fuselage as well, then you significantly expand your options. You can look at my profile to see what I ride and the RDB 730 wings has been my favorite freeride wing, 600 filled “the need for speed” tab and 1200 wing is my lightwind option which is very similar to your 633.
I can still fit 590 but it’s a bit too small for me. The 800 Moses is super awesome too, fits same kite fuselage I ride

I’d been riding 633 for a while along with 590, then I almost exclusively rode 683s (same as 679), then moved to 695, then to 800 along with 637 race wing and sold my kite fuselage and 679 wing.
I’ve been dreaming of same fuselage fitting any of my wings and that’s how I added 1200 wing as a lightwind options to 800. A lot of trying and moving on, but I ride the best wings I know now.

Below is compatibility list I put together

Old thread, but I have been really enjoying the 683 + S400 , feels loose with good acceleration and decent speed, carves nicely.

Personally I'd avoid getting something too similar to the 633 in size and shape.

I'd say one if the following wings: 590, 740 or 800. Or if you want something fast with good faith carving then perhaps the 550.
