You will be better off sticking it on Connors board or one of the girls, the boats don’t keep up

not even two days later and we have a NEW No. 1 with yet another strategy....
This time Jannis Maus from Germany came in with his Flysurfer VMG 2 and Levitaz combo to score an insane 55.80km in 1 hour!
What do you guys think of this one? looks like he didn't even try to hard (considering the strategy)

yet another insane score coming in....this time 58.7km for the hour, done by Riccardo Pianosi from Lake Garda, Italy!
Will we be seeing 60+ this comp?

Just wondering
Are there hydrofoils made just for speed that you can buy?
Kitefoil racers foils are made for upwind downwind performance. A smaller/thinner foil made for speed only should be faster imo.

Very good question!
I'm certainly no expert but I'm pretty sure Jannis was using the Levitaz R5 SX instead of the normal R5, with SX standing for speed cross. This version is much more made for getting to and holding even higher speeds, with the downside of upwind downwind performance being sacrificed as you mentioned.
Would be interesting to hear people with more knowledge give some insight into this!

My answer above is all you need to know.
If you know him, not I have bought a foil once but actually know him then yes you can get a speed foil from him
If not? Good luck…

I can find Levitaz S but no SX on their website.
I have no plans to try the hour record on foils. I like the concept though and i believe it will contribute to further evolution in faster kite foiling. Upwind/downwind is far from the fastest course. Fastest course is usually a bit higher than mvg downvind.
L'hydroptere, Americas Cup and Sail GP, have shown that 50+ knots is possible on foils
Sailrocket, the fastest wind driven vessel on water used supercavitating foils, but not for lifting. They used them for resisting sideway forces.

I think alpinefoil also had a crosswind race wing
