Foot Switch Training on Balance Board

Has anyone trained for a foil foot switch on a balance board? I’ve been working on it at home off the water and wanted to ensure I’m not developing the wrong muscle memory.

I do it on the balance board, with the roller both perpendicular and parallel to the board. I do it more just to develop balance. The movement isn't that similar in my opinion. You can slow the movement down a lot on the balance board as long as you are holding the balance point. On a foil it needs to be pretty quick.

I think it is very similar. It’s not exactly the same but it is a good stepping stone, I think like anything I wouldn’t over do it but if you can make the footswitch in a balance board it should really help you on foil. Just my experience.

You can switch your feet slow on a foil as you can hold the balance point on foil too. The closer your feet are together the slower you can switch your feet.

In fact you can just shuffle your front foot backward. and back foot forward until they are next to each other and then just keep going. Foot switch.

One little trick is to weight the back foot and bring the nose up and then switch feet. Like a little pump. Works in a balance board too. You do this instinctively when going up a little swell so this is a good place to switch feet on foil.
