North Reach 8m vs Core Nexus 8m for freestyle foiling

Postby addictedtofoil » Sun Sep 19, 2021 11:49 pm

Has anyone experience freestyle foiling with a North Reach 8m and a Core Nexus 8m?

Which one is better for freestyle foiling, boosting jumps, flips, carving harbour chop, wind range 15-20 knots

Thanks

I have a core nexus 2 and I use it for foiling and twin tipping. I have not used the North. It’s got good drift and it turns quickly, and the boosting is decent but requires more technique than my XRs ( which makes sense since the XR is made for boosting). I’m not jumping on a foil yet, so I can’t speak to that

I would say the Reach would be better. It is a lighter kite. You can really feel the difference in the air between the 2 kites. How ever both kites will probably work for what you want to do. If you all ready have Core or North kites I would just go with what you have. If your looking for just foiling then a 1 or 0 strut might be better for you.

Before I got my Reach quiver I did test the 12m Reach vs the 11m Nexus back to back. The Reach is lighter and a little more playful in the air. Was hoping to test the Nexus on a twintip but we did not have enough wind that day.

I foil with the Nexus 2. the 8m tends to be the largest size I regularly use. Good drift and turns sharply. Quite a narrow wind range for me, as a bit more wind and I'm down to 6m, which is more fun. Can't comment on the North.
