How many boards

Is it possible to get a single board for winging, foil surfing, and possibly foil kiteboarding? If not maybe 2 of these disciplines - thanks

3 of the three - no, other than in fringe conditions (and very good skill), or significant compromise, to the point of novelty.

A kite foil board is less than 20 liters. A wing board is 50-100+ liters. A prone board is somewhere in between. These gaps are pretty significant. You could potentially get a kite/ prone board but it would be very high volume for kiting. You could potentially get a wing/ prone board but you would need a lot of wind and good skill to make it work winging (this is probably the closest overlap).

I never learned to surf, so I have not given prone foiling a go. But I have kite foiled and wing foiled on the Slingshot Skywalker (51L) and also on a Cloud IX (41L).

I can use the boards from about 8 knots for kite foiling, 18 knots+ for wing foiling and I have been out on both of them in 40 knots.

I know people who use both of those boards for proning.

Agree, you can not use the same board for kitefoil and wingfoil, within reason.

As it would suck riding such a huge board for kitefoil - even in marginal winds a small wingboard (for high wind wing only), is too big in my, and friends, experience.

And as a kitefoilboard is smaller than many twintips, it does not mean much in terms of "space".

I kite foil on 30l/120cm and 40l/155cm boards. The 120cm is my favourite but I very much enjoy the 155cm. I could ride it all the time if I had to. I did when I started kite foiling. I have prone surfed it a couple of times with varying degrees of success. That has more to do with my lack of short surfboard skill than the board.

I have managed to once start the 155cm with a wing. That was my first proper session trying using the "stinkbug start" . There's threads and videos on it. It's pretty easy but it's not something I try to do every day. I am a bit lazy and hate to waste a good wind/wave wing session learning something new. Starting a 107L board is very easy in all conditions and there is a heap of stuff to learn with the gear I have. I am philosophically opposed to buying new gear when the solution to many problems is to simply get better at riding.

I am toying with the idea of kite foiling on a wingfoil board using a Peak kite. I think I could make that work quite well. I don't own a Peak and I am too busy improving my wing surfing skills.

Agreed. With enough skill you could might be able to use one board for everything. But of course if you are that good you would probably have more that one board for each sport.

It is possible but depends on riders weight, skills and of course the conditions you want to ride in.
I am lightweight and after a few months winging only use a 4’11 25L prone board and a 34L kite race board both for winging and kiting. A friend just bought an Fone rocket surf 4’6 36L that I could use for all 3 disciplines and would not suck for any of them. For winging I find the start way easier sinking than muscle the bigger boards out of the water.

There are some people out there using loco sized wing boards for kite foiling.

I have not figured out how to even get on my 125L wing board with a kite but it can be done.

They seem to like it so no harm trying.

Even then they seem to drive around with 3 boards in the Van.

My guess is that after a few years in wind/water sport everybody has at least 3 boards even if just for twin-tip or surfboard only.
