I've been to San Juan a few times in January/ Feb.

There seems to always be foil-able conditions in San Juan or a roughly 2 hour drive West in Aguadilla (usually windier here)

Lot's of spots to choose from, just watch wind shadows evident on the Maps. No restrictions that I know of...

Most kiting seems to be in the area of the Kite shop called "Kite Puerto Rico"

Winds are usually between low to mid teens to upper teens

If I were going I'd bring my HF, 13m Sonic 3 with 17m lines and 10m extension (just in case/ for the earlier in the day sessions) and 10m Soul . If 1 kite only , the 10m Soul

Last year I spent most of my time on the 11m sonic 2 well powered.

Good waves out at the reef, not sure how shallow it is out there for the foil, but there's plenty of room to kite inside of the reef so I never went out passed.

Aguadilla has much better surf conditions near Jobos.

IMO it's the perfect Foil trip in terms of winds/weather/ ease of access/ distance from the East Coast.

Anyone care to comment of the pros and cons of Aguadilla vs San Juan areas?
10m+ Foil kites make it sound really light ... I'm hoping for 7m-9m single strut foiling winds.
For west coast, any recommendations on where exactly to look for a place? Would be nice to be able to walk to the beach.
Similarly for the San Juan area.
Thanks
Tony

Aguadilla= better wind, waves

San Juan= better night life/ nice city

You should be able to get by on a 7m-9m with a foilboard in San Juan in low to mid teens, but Aguidillia for sure. depending on your riding style.. I like to powered up for boosting on a race foil so don't pay attention to my kite sizing

Not sure about where to stay in Aguidillia , there are hotels/ motels on the beach but I didn't see any at the beach that I kite at ( one beach East of Jobos) . I guess that's another pro for San Juan. There's a great wave to prone surf at Jobos in the morning before the wind picks up , as well as in Rincon in short ride South

So is the kiting in Aguadilla mainly on the north side of the island?
I'm leaning towards Aguadilla vs San Juan but San Juan would definitely be easier ... will continue to keep looking.
I tend to favor less crowds and craziness but like convenience of nearby groceries, restaurants, shops etc.

The north east trade winds blow almost every day in the mid teens like has been said so your 7 and 9 single struts will probably be a good match. San Juan has some cool historic parts but I’d rather stay on the western part of the island for vacation.

I’ll also be there in Feb near Playa las Picuas.

I’ve heard it’s a good spot. Is it deep enough to foil and should we expect the mid teens for wind speeds?

Thanks!
