Where is the "Aluula" 1 strut kite?

There are now 3 new lighter-&-stiffer-than-Dacron fabrics :
- Aluula, which Ocean Rodeo and Duotone currently are using
- Penta TX, which Duotone is using
- Hookipa, which Airush will very soon be using

As these new, and possibly other new lighter & stiffer fabrics are used more widely, there will almost certainly be some no-strut and one-strut kites made with them.

For the 10 m….300 grams difference between 3 Strut Neo SLS and 1 Strut Core Xlite…
It is not possible for me to test the Xlite in my country…
The Neo I did test…
Just wonder that these 300 grams vs 2 more struts would be the more sensible thing.
And just to coment: It should be Industry standard to publish weight/projected area of kites in adds.

If you're looking to have a single kite that does both (foil and surfboard), then I would stick with 3-struts. Not sure what your objective is.

I only use my XLITE's for foiling, and this is where they really shine. Their light wind reverse re-launch ability has to be seen to be believed - it's the best re-launch of any LEI I've ever seen. Re-launch is very important to me - not into the long swims with a no-strut or foil kite when you drop the kite. The XLITE also has medium/light bar-pressure which is also important to me with all the sheeting in/out that goes with foiling. The XLITE also drifts very well. Couple dings on the XLITE - they are a bit gutless when the wind drops, so you'll want to know downloop waterstarts and jibes (not a big deal). Also, there are better kites (such as foil kites) if maximizing your upwind angle is your objective.

The Neo is a great kite for foiling, but the XLITE is better in this area (and much better at re-launch). The Neo is much better on a directional surfboard than the XLITE.

I would think a 1-strut Aluula kite would perform better than a no-strut LEI kite with obvious advantages like relaunch.

But what about a no strut aluula kite?

I’ve had no strut 5 and 3 m kites and a one strut 4m for over a year.

I’ve had absolutely no problem relaunching the no strut kites.

And there is an advantage to the no strut design in how you can feather the kite.

Strutless has a definite advantage riding off the wind.

I bought Aluula Roams to replace drifters for foiling plus waves. the roams are super light and I'm not sure there would be an advantage to having them be strutless. they want to fly. the only time they have gotten wet is rider error going too far downwind jibing during extremely light winds. They work great in waves too and I like them way more than drifters, which I previously thought were awesome, but the Roam drifts better and is more lively in waves.

Penta TX is not stiffer then other dacrons from the same manufacturer. It is stiffer then the dacron (fom another manufacturer) which they use(d) on their other models indeed. Its also a complete different material then the other two you mention, its a normal polyester and no dyneema woven in.

I’m sure other companies can get access or are currently using challenge sail cloth products on their leading edge. Core and Cabrinha for instance.

Penta TX also has noticeably different coating then regular Dacron and is noticeably stiffer and lighter than kites I’ve had from various manufacturers. Except for cuben fiber.

I haven’t seen a core x lite to compare.

Just like other companies can use hookipa cloth also from challenge or aluula.

All of these products are lighter and stiffer. And I expect we are seeing and will see more cloth and kites incorporating this stuff.

My foiling kite journey, as I went from beginner to exclusively foiling, was 5 strut --> 1 strut --> no struts --> peaks (& UL 10m twin skin).

I've ridden aluula roam and flight and they are great kites and would nearly tempt me back to inflatables, but not quite.

100% agree weight is super important and a no strut aluula will hands down be the best aluula for foiling.
