Just sold my 10m “wave specific” 3 struts…
Looking now for a 10m light tube kite…more hydrofoil oriented…
Wonder why I cant finde a 1 strut exotic material tube kite…
Maybe Core X Light…
Never seen one…
Duotone doesnt make SLS 1 strut correct…nor Aluula…
Contra 10? Boxer 10?…
Only seen most on web…
Which is the 1 strut light wave/foil to replace me Bandit S2?
Single strut kites were made to reduce kite weight to allow them to keep flying in sub 10knot winds when hydrofoiling is still possible. Losing kite struts results in a compromise in performance and depower, but that's a compromise worth taking if it allows you to ride in very low winds.
Three strut Aluula kites are even lighter than single strut traditional dacron kites so you get the benefit of both light weight and performance. If brands were to make a single strut Aluua kite it would fly in even lighter winds, perhaps down to 3 or 4 knots, but at that point you probably wouldn't have enough power to board start so it would be of little benefit.
It does not make much sense to make a 3-4 times as expensive kite, which is solely for freeride hydrofoil.
(For racing it is another matter, and price does not mean as much)
With three struts a light Aluula kite can be used for waveboards and TT freestyle in higher winds, and has more upper range.
Makes sense.
Eventhough I agree it could be great to have a superlight 1 strut kite for hydrofoil yes, IF it drifts well at least
Around here most kitefoilers also ride surfboards, and a few also TT, so having a good universal light kite for all, seems the way to go now at least.

I can speak to the core xlite, as I just added as 12m to my line up. I was coming from Core XRs (5 struts), so its not even in the same playing field, these things just stay up in the air no matter how light the wind is, and they turn much faster. I've only foiled on them, so I can't speak to how they ride on waves with a surfboard (hopefully i'll get to try soon). I only felt the need to buy one, because in the smaller sizes I just got a 3 strut core Nexus 2, which I can twin tip on and surf on.

If that’s all there is to it, then why do you think small single strut and strutless kites exist? For example, the Airush Ultra 4m has an advertised low end of 21kts, and the Slingshot UFO 3m advertises 15 kts. At those winds you can afford more struts, but the reduced weight of single/zero struts comes with a certain performance advantage, so lighter materials would further improve that advantage. Maybe one of these Aluula single strut kites could drift as well as a Peak?
