ISO Mast for 2020 Cabrinha foil

Postby windybrit » Wed Feb 23, 2022 9:53 pm

I have a 2020 Cabrinha Carve foil with an 85cm mast, in May I have a trip planned to a spot of questionable water depth and would love to secure a 65cm mast, (part # KOPFALMAS)
(merely having this in my bag would ensure high waters for my 14 days away) I have heard that any Cabrinha mast from 2017 to 2020 would fit but haven't had this confirmed.
Does anyone have such an item? TIA .

Not sure I’d you’ve found anything yet, but you can buy one new. https://www.mackiteboarding.com/2020-ca ... mast-65cm/

All Cabrinha masts from 2017 to 2020 have the same hole patterns and outside dimensions. But the newer masts from 2020 (silver/grey) are stiffer than the older ones (mostly blue). Nevertheless I would say the combination with your (quite small) Carve-wing and an old (quite short) 65cm Mast will work.

...And check if you are using long enough screws for the wing/mast connection. Screws should be mounted at least 15mm, better 18-20mm into the mast thread. I have seen issues with too short screws in some Varial foil sets in the past.

just to confirm that the older blue masts work fine.
As for the bolts, the Carve front wing comes with 2x38mm (one of which with just 10mm thread, no idea why) and 1x27mm.
Most important is to replace the original 40mm fulelage to mast bolts with 45-50mm. Initially they shipped this fuselage with 40mm and after some sunk foils, the length of these 2 bolts was increased to 45 or 50 (not sure, but can check).

..Yes, you are right. I´ve meant the fuselage to mast connection of course. As thread pitch of M8 is 1.25mm screw(s) shold go at least 13 revolutions into the mast.
