Harness preference for hydrofoiling:

Postby rnelias » Wed Apr 06, 2022 3:03 pm

Usually seat/rope slider harnesses are suggested as the "go to" option for hydrofoiling, however, if you take a look in some videos on youtube, including those published by brands, team riders are usually on standard waist/hook harnesses. Thus, I thought it would be interesting to check what people is actually using.

Note: it's not you think is the best option but what you ACTUALLY use.

to start my own pool, I've been using Daking boardshort harness with Mystic Stealth rope/slider spreader bar. Just replaced the metal ring with a nylon friction ring (made by a friend in a lathe) and it works very well, however, it limits me to try some tricks e.g., seat on the board :P

you've made me curious... what would that be?

I've tried to edit the pool to remove the "cabrinha fireball" from the "other" option but it's not possible... :(

I'm riding the stealth spreader bar with the ability for it to be fixed or for it to slide. I just pop the loop out to slide while I'm foiling or surfing, or pop it back in for a fixed point if I'm twin tipping and boosting.

Same for me, though I added the Ion slider setup to my Dakine Nitrous shorts. I use this friction ring: https://smcgear.com/rigging-ring.html

Should be able to choose more than one option.

I use a waist with both a hook or slider depending on kite and conditions.
