Hey, just wondering which you all think are the best straps for kite foiling? I have some Moses straps, but I'm a little worried they might be too thick and unforgiving to ankles when ejecting. I realize strapless is obviously best for the ankles, but if I were to get straps (I eventually want to jump), would anybody recommend either the North V strap setup, Armstrong, Groove skate's V-strap setup, or any other ankle-friendly brand I haven't mentioned? I don't have ankle issues, but I imagine getting caught in straps with speed is a recipe for disaster so I want to cut a bit of the risk. Thanks!

The main thing is, whatever straps you use, make sure you adjust them to be very loose to avoid injury. For the front straps, I think V straps are great for hydrofoiling.

Since they should be very loose you don't need adjustable ones. Here are some nice ones from NSI. You choose the screw holes to mount them as loose as you want.

Excellent, thanks both of you! I found a local store that has those NSI ones so I'll give them a try.

I used the Axis front V-strap, but I had them too tight (new guy mistake) and almost broke my ankle. Have front hook only now, but want to give the V-strap another go soon.

Groove straps, V fronts and single rear, never trap your feet but fit tight for boosting, 2nd generation "soft straps" best ever, but expensive, go to the website to view options and logo colours, choice for racing for many as so light as well.

First, I had one strap for the front foot. But I found it too risky for injury if falling off the board with one foot fixed. Therefore, I now use one foothook/half strap for the front foot.

Fascinating. I think the exact opposite. Front straps should as tight as possible so that's impossible for your feet to get jammed into them if you slip or fall. If the straps are very loose there's nothing to stop your foot going deep into the strap causing a serious sprain to the ankle & leg from the torque created by the foil. I keep the straps so tight that just the knuckles of the foot can fit under the strap, that way there's no possibility of the foot going any deeper into the strap - if you fall the foot comes away immediately from the strap. This may be less satisfactory for jumping where you need to keep more control over the board in flight, but it works great for general riding & on waves.
