Fanatic any good for kitefoiling?

Postby kit3surfer » Sat May 14, 2022 1:20 pm

Hi,

would you think the following setup could be good for kitefoiling? Especially a good compromise for waves, glide, and also a bit higher speeds.
In 90cm mast, 68 fuse and 1150 wing.
What do you think in general about the mast? Seem to me wider than most masts for kitefoiling - any incoveniences?

Yes it’s good but 1150 is quite large so if you are less than 95kg you may prefer the 950 for kite

Did you already try some of these for kitefoiling?

I am about to recieve a Reedin 112 liter board...
Will try it with a kite to get the feeling...mast and front strap placements...
Maybe it will be usefull when I try it with a wing...
Not sure mast and strap position will be similar...kiting and winging...
Has anyone tried a stunt like this?

Could the large/wide mast be a handicap while kitefoiling? Why are kitefoiling masts mostly narrower? Will a wide mast be slower?

Yes a wide mast is slightly slower but if you are riding these wings you are not worried about going 40knts. The reason kite masts are narrower is cause they don’t need to be wider as not using as wide a span wings as winging so can keep cost down as well as drag/weight. If you are riding a 900cm2 or bigger wing you will not notice much difference with speed on the fanatic mast compared to the Duotone mast. Likewise the Duotone mast works fine for winging on the narrower span wings 😀
