Rode the board.
- it has little resistance against water so angled waterstarts in shallows gotta be precise
- it drifts down the wave slower due to light weight and no rocker and I like it
- the red edge makes the board more visible when it’s floating on water
- less feet offset from the board axis, just a little adjustment to my regular stance
- board came without hardware so I used my own t-nuts
I love the board

Lots of carbon on the Microchip with a closed cell PVC core.

Yep, just one horizontal one to aid in starting. Got a lot of mates who want to try it and aren’t skilled in strapless starting, especially on a sinking foil. This will allow positioning of the foil on its side during the start, once up your foot moves back and your strapless.

Not hard, peel back grip, cut holes, partly fill hole with resin/micro Balloons, sink insert and screw into hole. I used M6 Tnuts. Once set completely fill hole an sand flat once set. Apply two layes of glass over the insert area. Using contacts adhesive rebond the deck grip.

Is there enough space for a normal stance behind the strap on a 80cm board?!

Had the microchip out yesterday, 12-14 knots on an 8 mtr cloud, I’m 80kgs. It’s a great fun little board, strange to look down and see water rather than nose forward of your front foot. The strap worked well, not really needed as the Sabfoil 633 kept the board on its side but it did make positioning of the board easy.

Once up your foot moves back so not touching the strap, just the tips of my toes were underneath the strap. My back foot is on the heel ramp with the foil mounted towards the rear of the tracks.

Got to point the board downwind when getting going otherwise the nose dives, otherwise it rides just fine. A mate was doing foot switch tacks on it.
