I have it a bit similar, 45 years windsurfing, and have ridden kitesurfboards strapless for quite some years when it suddenly became "fashion", till I (and most others) eventually found there weren't any advantages, but a huge number of disadvantages :-?

So went back to straps again :thumb:

Whereas with hydrofoils you get a smooth ride, the whole idea with a foil, so unless you jump you don't need straps, actually worse when surfing on a wingfoil cause you can't stand over the centerline  .
Have jumped a bit years ago on fast kitefoils, just for the fun of it, but have foiled strapless ever since.

Love the free feel on the flying carpets
