Do you use the deflation valve ever?
I do. Have done with all my Slingshot kites incl. all iterations of the UFO. I haven’t encountered any issues personally.

At my lack of puddings (64’ish kilos) a 9m UFO was too big a kite for my light wind foiling and I became quickly over powered on it. I can comfortably use a 5m from 12 knots up into the high ‘teens. I’ve mainly used the PFI633 but I want to put some more time in on my PTM684. I’m thinking of 4,5,6 and 8 but it’s good to read others thoughts on this and the other UFO posts.

But why though? To avoid unscrewing the other valve?
It seems like another potential weak point for no additional value.

Simply for a quick pack down post session and yes, often to avoid unscrewing the main valve on a sandy beach.

Never, but still leaking.

it seems the deflate valve in SS kites is placed in the middle on purpose.

As @oceanromeo pointed out, you can quickly roll/fold the kite from tips to the center while squeezing the air out or the bladder.

I hate my Cabrinha Mantis wing, which does not have a deflate valve and the hose used in the 1-pump system is too thin. It takes forever to remove the air from the wing.

This "cheap" type of valve (soft PVC material) is wearing out if you leave the plug inside the valve permanently (have the valve closed permanently). With the consequence of small leaking after a couple of weeks / months.
It is essential to OPEN this valve after every use to prevent from wearing out.
The problem gets more serious when the kite gets older due to the placticizers slowly evaporating from the PVC, reducing the elasticity of the plastic.

It is really annoying that all brands are still using this super cheap material for the valves.

What I find weird is that SS kites do not have loop specific for pump leash and, in the case of UFO, the pumping valve is in a place that my valve adapter is forced against the kite when it's pressurized :-?

I took a foto of the pump leash attachment. It's hard to find.

I'm not kite foiling too much since I've started my journey to learn winging but last saturday I had a very pleasant session on my UFO 6m.

It was my second session using this kite
