Newind Foilboard 108

Postby mati » Thu Nov 16, 2023 3:54 pm

Hi there, does anyone have experience with this board? They are on sale with a pretty reasonable price.
I am looking for a not so expensive board between 105 and 110 cm long, and it seems a good option.
Second option is the new Gong Fronteira 3'6 (108 cm too).
And third option is anything i can find available in the second hand market here in Spain.
I have a Gong HM92 with a Fluid ST (700 cm2) and a Freestyle H37 stab.
I always use straps and i like to jump and do rotations with the foil.

I love my SAB T35 108cm just the right size super light at 2.5 kg and it still has enough volume to start in very light wind and to recover from a touchdown.

My buddy has a 108cm Newind board. He loves it! I am just awaiting the arrival of a 105cm Rewind board - I'll post my impressions when I receive it.

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find any info about a 105 Rewind or Newind.. is it a new model or a wingboard?

- Fronteira 3'6 (straps set included) €704 + Shipping €71 = €775 (i own a Gong HM92 mast an the double entry US box is an interesting plus)
- Newind 108 €510 + Straps €60 + Shipping +- €50 = €620 (I was keen to support a smaller business and save some money but i am a little bit worried about this thread in the german forum https://oaseforum.de/showthread.php?t=184998)
- Slingshot Hope Craft + Shipping = €750 (i would have to get a V-Straps set +-€60) = €810

If you don't mind low volume then I'd recommend RLBoards - https://rlboards.com/product/hydrofoil-board/ . The minumum length is 110cm. €279 + shipping.
I'm quite happy with mine and I do jumping on it. Waterstarts and riding away after jumps is quite easy on it. It is carbon so hopefully it is strong enough for jumping.

Great boards for starting out, but they are a bit flexy in my opinion. I always wondered whether what you see is real carbon or a "carbon look" sticker. I think it might be fiberglass over paulownia wood core with some carbon reinforcement? Good value though.

I don't know for sure if it is carbon or carbon look-a-like and if it survives jumping and drops for appreciable amount of time I don't really care.
Regarding the flex - I'm probably not sensitive enough as I don't feel it and cannot tell the difference between RLBoards and Naish Macrochip (my other board) or boards I had before - Axis MV 125 and Liquid Force Rocket fish.

I should say that it is quite a few years since I had RL boards (three different ones), back when the masts were pretty flexy too. I noticed a big difference when I switched boards. But I weigh over 90kg...
