New feature of the 5. Can somebody explain what that means?

The mixer features the two-ring camber trim system. Moving the rings changes the relationship between the B or C level relative to the A level. The profile of the foil kite can be trimmed to be either flat or curved.
where did you read that it's a new feature? looks like the same mixer as on most other FS kites?

The cut-out parts of the ribs seem like an obvious difference, but it is impossible to think that it is a big difference.

Way, way back on the Peak 4 thread, I suggested the idea that, if I wasn't using the span line, I might as well remove it along with all of the associated hardware.

Armin's reply, as I understood it, was that while the weight of the kite makes a difference, at some point the shape becomes more important.

I find a review video but it's in German so even with the auto translate it's hard to understand what he is talking about

Just saw/heard the video, and he says -

Compared to Peak4:
Tips has double chambers and it turns better, and no vibrations to the lines/bar when (over)powered.
The cloth is changed, same difference as from Soul 1 to Soul 2, so a stiffer and stronger longer lifetime cloth, but tad heavier than Peak4 cloth.
And as Trent has noticed - a lot more cutouts in the ribs, so in total still a tad lighter kite.

The rest is a description of ups and downs of single skin kites like this, things we all know from the close to three thousand post long Peak4 thread.
Only thing I noted, was he said it works brilliant for kiteschools as they can fly on land in almost no wind without risk, and on the water with a helper using super short lines in more wind.

He has flown Peaks since the first model, and as we all know, no comparison to the first models, way better in every way (which I think we all assume is correct yes)

The Peak 4 also has two tip cells on each side - but it is not so visibly obvious. Here is a more specific comparison of the line plans:
Peak 4 vs 5.jpg
Here the extra b attachments must be a big contribution to the extra stability - just like the extra c connections do for the firefly v2.

The metal rings on the b-safe span are smart. I have an 11m that was a demo kite and the line rubbed tears in the ribs because the safety was pulled under full power so much. I had to fix it with tape patches.

I love that they made them more durable, e en if the price is higher that would be worth it to me.

I have every peak except the 3m now so I might buy the 2.5 next summer.

Never heard of Born kites before and their website seems to be stuck in the year 2002, are they any good? Also everything seems to be out of stock....

Seems that I have to test a Peak5 soon as the Soul2 6m is already fun to play with when not racing. Stell regret I didn't took a Plkb nova 4m when riding for them. What size should I aim for or would it be impossible to combine with an Levitaz R5 as they are on the opposite side of the spectrum?

Born kites it is one person company and his kite are very popular between kite buggies. He is very inovative but not so much taking care or management, promo and similar. But his kites prices are very suitable and not complains in general about quality or flying.
