Next one a 4m AR 4 for foiling. Bridle can be converted to a foilkite wing with a handle/Boom attaching directly to the bridle instead of a Bar with lines.. But first I need it as a kite 😁

Very much pleased with the first meters of the Ultra Light 11m2. Stable tips and smooth power!

Got around to making a 2 square meter test kite, it works better than expected but I will have to change the bridle adjustments to make it a depower kite. Right now it works best when flying it as a 2-liner.
The green fabric was from an old tent which wasn't air-tight at all so the kite didn't stay inflated for a long time unless you forced air into it by flying.

Currently I have my bridle setup that when the kite is fully powered and thus the (bar) line lengths are equal, the ABCZ are all equal length and mixer is also equal length for power and steering. It looks like (IRL because in the video it's difficult to see) currently the B and/or C are too short since Z was slacking, even when powered, yet the kite wanted to backstall.

The prototype shows (to me at least) that the kite could work, the body didn't seem to affect things too much and (also because of the tendency to backstall) the kite didn't want to frontstall, not even when pulling hard on the power line. Safety works and it does also have the ability to turn into a helicopter which is very nice!

Test flight where where some of the issues can be seen, about 12-13 knts:

Hi,

very nice, good work! How did you learn this? Are there books about this matter?

The books I read where this thread and some general google searching. Stef was quite detailed in his process (somewhere towards the start of this thread) and I watched videos by niklas (schietwedder) which are probably somewhere in this thread as well but that's about it.
Programs used to analyse and generate kites are also named in this thread but I used surfplan (hobby) for generating plans and xflr5 for profile/kite analysis (with help from niklas).

There probably are books on the subject but I didn't read any so don't know which would be good/useful.

Nice Kite Liam!
The cloth quality makes a big difference, next tim a bit bigger, a bit more wing and less owl body (maybe higher AR) and it should fly just fine! Very impressed, keep making those!

Some very light wind with the 16.5m today on the Sabfoil 799 just before sunset.
Maybe 4-5 knots gusts 6 ish. Kite stayed dry :D

Shortened the lines to about 15m and now very happy with the reactiveness and turning.
.... flying early and close turning (for size)

Meanwhile a 7.5m Version of the 16.5 is underway
