Yes a few minutes usually, the goo has some cure time and will continue to smell (evaporate slightly) for a long time. Evaporation is quicker with higher temp like summer and Toluene is faster than Xylene.

That kite coating peeling looks similar to flysurfer PU coating peeling. The tips flap more so I guess that is why it wears there quicker. I notice where a rolled kite is folded it wears there too.
