Nice video! Yes, they do relaunch.

I've been keeping track for the past 3 years, which includes the time I began learning to hydrofoil. I put the kite in the water a lot in the beginning. My relaunch success rate is something like 96 percent (48 out of 50, or so)--I'd have to review my log to be more precise. One time the hydrofoil got tangled in the kite lines and I gave up. This happened another time and I thought, "What the heck, I'll give it a try." So I swam over to the foilboard, untangled it, pushed it back upwind ahead of me, then tensioned the lines and relaunched. Easy. Yes, these kites do relaunch and impressively well, considering how they appear, sometimes, when they end up in the water.

How foil kites compare to tube kites for relaunchability I can't say, since I use foils almost exclusively. A few times when I've been out on my Core 6 m, the relaunch has seemed very good. But I've only put it in the water a few times. The Core 6 m is twitchy and unstable (in terms of turning) compared to my 8 m Flysurfer Speed 4 dlx. It's harder to keep the kite in the air without looking at it all the time. The bar feedback on the Flysurfer is better.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about foil kites, when I go to my local spot and put up a foil kite they look at me like I'm wacky and then u always get the stupid questions like what happen when it falls in the water, umm a foil is just as easy or probally easier to relaunch than an LEI or wow u can launch that by yourself. I wish the maufacturesr would do more to promote their products and neutralize the misinformation as they would sell a lot more kites. everyone who I have put on a high performance foil like the sonics or speeds absolutely love them and I usually have to yell at them to come out of the water and bring my kite back.

You've got a point, PullStrings.
I miss the entertaining silliest question competition. Guys seem to be more cautious before asking things, or the committee less vigilant.

You should remember Bubi doing that 8 years ago. Armin being the badass here.
I reckon Flysurfers then were way more challenging to relaunch. Today, and since the Pulse2/Sp3 generation it's a piece of cake.
I was surprised how easy to relaunch the Sonic is, even when it looks desperate.

I've water launched 15m Speed4 Lotus with ease when Airush 19 vxr or something one-strutt did not drift launch. With Sonic1 still no water launch experience because of no need. Nice to see tips for it.
