The Shaka
L has 2000 cm²
M has 1500 cm²

I love the M as my personal every day Hydrofoil. The L is only to push the lighter wind at the moment.

The sweep/ wide center cord/ low AR doesn't look efficient. Signature Albatross looks much better. I wonder how much cross over there is between air and water in designs, they seem exact just scaled different.

Yes, higher AR Wings have a better Lift to Drag Ratio. BUT they would get too wide if you want so much lift. I will already switch to 90cm Mast to be able to edge more.
Dynamic characteristic at turns, start edging, ... will be be less good too.

The wing is a lot faster that People expect. Pure Race people will for sure use other wings.

The lift to drag ratio mainly depends on the remaining drag. Keep in mind a 20cm high airfoil (Cd=0.05) can have the same drag as 1cm high cylinder or something else unaerodynamic.
We need to keep that always in mind. To reduce the raining Drag is here the key too. Same like with the Kites. Make it aerodynamic double skin, thin less bridles, smooth surface, ...

Cheers, Armin

Good points, though the Albatross(below vid) at high AR does seem to turn well enough . Anti ventilation finishes like from Zeeko are an option for breeching part of the foil. Improving turning for high AR would be something to do with the stabilizer given how well monofoils turn.

Anybody want to weigh in on a 15m soul vs 12m soul?

Am looking to replace a 15m 3 strut kite for light winds on the foilboard.
Have seen the wind ranges on the site, 6kts and 7 kts low end respectively.
I don't plan on kiting much in 6kts and lower, as that can drop in the lulls here in Toronto very quickly.
I do see a lot of 15m kites out at my spot but a lot of those guys are boosting - not a goal of mine (ride strapless)

Am 85kg on a smallish wing (nobile zen freeride/allround) but likely to get a bigger wing at some point.

thanks in advance

Had the Soul 15 and rode the Nobile wing. While I loved the Soul on a twintip, the range on hydrofoil was just to small for me so I ended up selling it. I’m about 5kg less than you as well. Personally I’d choose the 12m especially if you are going to get a larger wing. I went to a Moses 633 and it was a night and day difference compared to the Nobile btw.
