Got my 6m FRS late last year, have only had one session on it so far. What wind range have you found for the 6m with the foil?

Just got a new 12m UL FRS; might be a while before it sees airtime :(
The non-UL 12m has been a great kite in 7mph or so of wind.
I'll try to get some closeup pictures of these kites during this down-time and post them here.

Overall the wind was 10-13 knots, that was rather the low range but perfect for surfing the swell . My limt to waterstart was about 8 knots with the series of loops yiu can see on the video. There were 1 or 2 mega lulls to 6-7 knots where the kite was hard to keep in the air without loops.

So I have a 12m and 9m FRS, both in ultralight material. I absolutely love the 12m. The 9m doesn't seem to have the same magic and I am wondering if it might be because of the ultralight material? I tend to fly the 9m when I get overpowered on the 12m which is around 20 knots, I would guess. Has anyone flown a 9m FRS in standard (32 gm) and in ultralight material (27 gm)?? I have heard that foil kites 9m and smaller should not be made of ultralight fabric? I weigh 110 kg and ride strapless surffoil. Any thoughts? Thx

Are these fabric weights correct? Both are ultra light actually.

9m kite has about 20m2 of fabric in its panels. If there is 5g difference in m2 it results only 100g difference in weight which is insignificant. Ribs and inner structures are usually made of heavier fabric.

At 20kn and with your weight kite weight doesn't have much relevance anyways, all kites work and fly well.

Yes, those weights are what is listed on kitechkites/hu.en. Interesting to know those fabrics are both considered ultralight.

I also had in mind that the 9m and 12 m had were in 40gr and not 32... and they were not so light . Good kite anyway. Love in 9m . In 12m it was a proto, but i missed some power overall for very light winds (vs Pulsion or a15).

I just borrowed a 9m FRS and hope to try it this weekend. Flew it on the beach in 2-3 m/s and it stayed up well.

All kites from Kitech can be ordered in either fabric. I have two of the 12m and 9m (each), 32gr and 27gr. I haven't used the 27gr in either to really experience the difference. Hopefully soon I'll be back on the water.

What's your low end on the 9m? Please state your weight and foil model.

At 155lbs, on a Lift 170 Surf, with 32gr. 9m FRS, 21m lines, comfortable down to about 8-9mph of wind (flat bay water). 12m FRS 32gr, comfortable down to about 6-7mph of wind. I don't expect the 27gr versions to extend that, but just be able to stay up in extreme lulls.
