Chrono V3 Vs Flysurfer Soul

Postby Bladesurfer » Wed Jul 25, 2018 11:58 am

As the title says.
I'm a Ozone guy and need a weapon to beat one of my competitor who is using Flysurfer Soul. I have a Chrono V2 15m and a Edge V9 8m as my setup. We used to get about the same height on our Woo's but now when he got the new Soul kites 8m and 12m he's beating me every time. Last session I was on my Edge V9 8m and he was on his brand new Soul 12m.
I got 14.7m and he got 18m (two times) on his Woo. He only went for height and I did a lot of loops and other trix as well.
The wind was about 20-28knots gusty.
Has anyone tried both Chrono V3 and Soul?
I'm now selling my Chrono V2 15m and getting a V3 13m.
Interesting to see how a lower aspect kite out jumps higher aspect kites. The Soul seems to beat the Sonic kite by far when it comes to boosting. 18m on a 12m kite is crazy good.

You should demo the V3 first , I was told by a very good kiter that the V2 is a better kite .....
Did you jump the Hyperlink ?

15-18m jumps is really good. I can only get that height if I hit a wave / kicker in 30+ knots with a twin tip and on a LEI.

Jumping high is also depending not just on performance but on windrange too and the Soul has incredibly high wind range as you can see. I had the Sonic Fr 15, Sonic 2 13m and Soul 12m and I would say the Sonics has more performance but since the stability of the Soul the Soul has more useable windrange so even an advanced freerider might jump higher on Soul since he can handle it in a much higher wind. And while the Soul is a mid aspect kite, it has all the possible technology inside what is proven in paragliding and race kite designs. Very advanced light material, plastic rods on the leading edge, plastic rods on the top of the kite above the C level, very thin lines to minimalize drag, and of course a great design. Dont take them granted on other freeride kite designs. Plus on the Flysurfer bar you have very short chicken loop and a longer bar throw which also helps jumping. This bar is better for old school since the chicken loop is 4-5 cm shorter than the Ozone chicken loop. I am a Flysurfer fun but I am using Ozone bar to unhook because the Ozone bar is way better for unhooking. I dont think you can beat the 18m on the 13M kite, because to beat this you will need higher winds and a super efficent 9-10-11m kite. Probably a 10m Soul would be the best choice whith some 35 knots of wind :) Try to demo as many kite you can.

The Soul out performs both Hyperlink and the Chrono V3 without a doubt.
Its not even close.

Yesterday i was foiling in 8 knots with the 12m. The wind died and shifted offshore. I thought i was screwed for sure. After sitting in water for 45 minutes folded up, the Soul did not take on a drop of water. Lucky for me the wind picked up just enough and the kite untangled itself and in about 6 knots i was able to perform a single line relaunch. Incredible.

The Ozone Chrono would have filled with water and game over after 3 minutes.

The Soul boosts higher than Chrono, has some up wind angle, same hangtime, turns faster and relaunches like a dream. Its a stress free foil kite.

I have no ties to the brand, have no benefit of sharing this info. Just a huge fan of the performance and want to share the stoke.

Why are you getting another Ozone? Like everyone has said, the Flysurfer is just better. Only thing Ozone does better are their bars.

I'm a local Ozone teamrider 😊.
I still have all the Woo spot records with my Edge V9 8m at this time. I could probably go with a Edge V9 10m for massive airs but I like the float the foil kites give you in lite wind.
And I love my two kite setup. I'll give the Chrono V3 13m a chance. It's hard to get any tests and reviews on it. It's been out for a long time but not much to see?

.. I saw some reaction of Armin on the forum that customization is possible.. to write whatever name you want on the Soul.. don't know if you're pushing it with "Ozone"..
