Just to update everyone I flew the 2019 Genesis 6m today for the first time on my hydrofoil wind was 20 - 25/26 knots, definitely the upper limit of this kite board combo.
Out of the box the kite seemed to fly very well so they must have updated more than the color for 2019 I think. I was using a 4 line gaastra bar with 4 lines of equal length.
Kite hot launched nice and safely and filled quickly in the air. Seemed to be tuned for the smallest bit of backstall when fully sheet in. It does not turn as fast as a small LEI but I didn't expect it to. This slower turn does make it hard turn the power off when looping the kite as it sits in the power zone for a long time and will yank you off the board if you are not braced for it.
The kite has loads of grunt and for the price you pay is astonishing value for money. I didn't crash it so I can't comment of its relaunch. The stability of this kite is definitely its most impressive trait even at the edge of the window pushing hard upwind there was minimal tip tuck, when the tip did eventually tuck the kite just fell back in the window and effortlessly regained its shape.
After finally admitting I was overpowered I said I would go for a quick blast on my twin tip to see what it was like, I noticed here that the aspect ratio does not lend itself any form of efficient upwind riding, was still loads of fun to do small underpowered kite loops. The lift is minimal but that is the trade off for stability.
Overall I think its nearly a better fit for me than the aurora II..the downwind drift means you can just ride at it on the ocean swell and it falls further and further back into the window. Might try the 8m when I've some spare cash!
