Hi, I would like to start hydrofoiling. I am going to learn with a gong strutwave 9m2, but later to cover wind range of 10-15kn or a bit lower, is it a good option peak 8 or maybe 5 with line extensions and a very big front wing?

HI, I used the Peak4 during winter so I know them. I start foiling this summer and I used the Peak4 . For me it was the perfect kite to learn foilling because it stay in the air so easily. When I was falling I just let go the bar and the kite was waiting at the zenith. I stay close to the shore in case I drop them . So far so good.

The 8 works very well in ten knots on 23 meter lines. It works in less than ten knots.

I've used the 8 quite a bit and really like it. I just ordered the 5 and am looking forward to trying it out.

Unless you are very light, the 5 meter won’t get you down to 10 knots.

79kg , I have red here by many , how good are peak 3,4&5 and that 8&11 , are not good light wind kites. Also saw that , and your review of how similar are firefly 4 and peak 4, so I was wondering if with 30m lines and 2000cm2 wing is possible to use peak 5, marginally down 10 kn.

Yes, I guess it could be possible. The guy is the video is very skilled as you might be but I don’t think it will be much fun. These kites are best well powered in my opinion. Others will give their opinions.

2000cm and 5m peak will work at 10knts with some foil pumping at start and good kite technique. 30m lines make no difference to 25m IMO. Peak is slow flying kite /not turning/ and you reach max powerstroke on 25m. It will be not very fun though.

For sub 11 knts i prefer closed cell kite. And it doesnt matter if you have peak 5 or 8 or 11 - i just like closed cell for LW better

Yes.

Haven’t heard much about the FF 8 recently.

Also consider Conceptair Wave 8.5. Similar, may have better high end.
