Sorry but I am not following you. On the beach, I hot launch my P4's by putting sand along the trailing edge to hold kite down while I walk my lines directly upwind. Trying to figure out how to do this on a grass field where I don't have sand available.

Sorry non native speaker. So im slowing down.
No weight on kite - never ever. No sand no nothig.
Kite is folded /packed/ - unwind your lines directly upwind. Bar is set that kite is backstaled just right in uhooked position. Fix bar with something - put bag on it - with some stick in the ground, whatever.
As I wrote sometimes friction of bar and unwinded lines are enough /Surf wing HF power level - on high friction ground - grass f.e./
Go to kite unroll kite /unpack/ and put it to hotstart position trailing edge down on tesioned lines.
Kite holds shape and stays here nice and calm.
Go to bar - untwist lines /optional/ - connect, hook in - hot start
done

Doesn't make sense....that's way more wind...13sec into the video you see someone riding a TT or surfboard on a LEI kite.....
I have Peak 4 in 4m, 5m and 8m and can use the 8m from maybe 10kts, the 5m from 13kts and the 4m from 16kts. Sometimes I have to loop the kite several times to get onto the board and going. This is with Moses T22 and 683S wing, 85kg. We do have around 1kts of current going downwind most days in Barbados...I really love the Peak in the waves but its not a light wind wonder...
,
i only have a 5m peak 4, at 90kg and 1125cm2 surf foil, i start at 12 knots,so consistent with this summary.
Below that I can get going with a lot of loops but really difficult to hold ground - no fun for me.

Maybe try a bigger hydrofoil, like 2X bigger. I can ride a 6m double skin down to about 6 knots.
Anyone want to try that new mixer
viewtopic.php?f=197&t=2392917&start=90 with the Peak 4?

Anyone use P4 or similar small foil kites on grass launch. How do you keep kite on grass prior to launch?
I launch from the side of window, fold the upwind tip over about 20cm, and find something small to sit on the tip, eg. a small lump of wood/stick, smooth rock, or your helmet.

Or use a small bag of sand or if no sand some dirt. Flysurfer actually supplies a sand bag, (empty), with some of their kites but not the Peak4. Easy to carry with you and if appropriately sized can be used for self landing as well.
