@Foil_Adict
Experiment with shorter lines with the 13m
Tested myself that kite with the Connect Bar which at full length is 24m ( 12 +7 ext. + 5 bridle )
In conclusion the best was 12m + 5m bridle = 17m..........i did also try 12m+ 3m ext. + 5 bridle = 20m and it was a nice improvement from 24m
It turned pretty fast at 17m and was quite enjoyable
It went upwind better by going at the edge of the window
Was able to keep it sheeted in and prevent trailing edge flapping
Pulled less like tractor as you mention it
That kite in 13m is big for a single skin and creates on itself a lot of drag
Sits deep in the window to begin with by nature
Once you pick up speed it will stay stuck deep and pull against where you want to go

So what is your length right now ?

What does everyone fly when it’s too windy for the 3m?

Go Wingsurf?

Seriously can't imagine being overpowered on the 3m, that's some serious wind

@pullstrings
I believe I have 15m or 17m lines, could try flying with just 5m line extensions but I don't have any real options in between. Honestly line sets are pricey enough that I have just been happy riding the standard lengths. Curious to try with super short lines but it may defeat the purpose of such a big kite fore me. If it's blowing 10-12mph I am happy on the 5m. I assumed short lines were mostly for riding and controlling a bigger kite in the top end of it's wind range.

May have to give it a go though. It's fun to have options!

It doesnt often get over 30kn here, thats when the 3m is getting too big for me. Skycountry makes a 2.4m hysper2. I hope flysurfer will make a 2.4m peak 5 when they come out.

I can ride the 5m into 20ish, so I was hoping 3m would work well in 25-35 but it seems to cover something like 18-25 kts for me.

i really enjoy my peak 6m and 8m in lighter winds, but when it gets windy, like 20+, i go to my LEI training kites Ozone Uno 6M and 4M. The 6M will take me comfortably into the 30s, and the 4M I could never get overpowered on...at least without going out in a hurricane. When it's windy (and often wavy), I want a kite that will relaunch immediately, and these do. And they're both inexpensive, lightning fast, drift really well and are as comfortable in the sky as the Peaks.

A 5 m2 LEI on a waveboard.

3 m2 fits me from 17 to 24 knots. So agree with mirza23454 on this.

Around 24 knots it is 6 m2 LEI on waveboards, so when the 3 Peak4 gets too big it is 5 m2 LEI surf time :rollgrin:

I would agree with that. My range seems to correspond pretty much to yours. 4m Peak is comfortable to 18 knots, doable to a few knots more, at which point I would use my 3.5 Boxer. I think over 25 knots is SB time .... although it does depend somewhat on the water conditions.

I have tried my Peak4 6m a few times now and not sure why but it just feels different in comparison to my 5m and 4m Peaks. It doesn't fly effortless and just feels like it struggles to generete power. I tried it with 5m back to back in approx 12 knots and could not see much difference in pull but 5m was much faster. So for me I can't say 6m would help with lowering the wind range at all. I purchased Peak 6m new so there shouldn't be any issue with the kite and only thing I can think of that would affect how it flies would be the bar I was using. It was an old Core bar with high Y on approx 17m lines so it had approx 10m to line split. I will need to try swaping bars with Peak 5m that has low V and test it again. I am sure all my bars has got equal lines etc as I check every now and then.
