not much happening on this thread
any Peak 5 rumours...
FS is supposedly going back to water relaunchable like they initially tried with back in the original Peak proto. If it comes out this year, won't be till winter.
Yep sounds like you are overpowered for sure. To help with the flapping I like to just rest my hand on the bar at all times putting just slight tension which helps.papasmerf wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 4:10 pmjust rode my 4m peak 4, first time. not feeling the magic,, maybe i was over powered. if i let bar all the way out,, the trailer edge flapped like crazy,, one time i pulled bar all the way in, and it pinwheeled, only happened once, i depowered it a bit,, but kited for a while with it, trying to get it drift with no input and i don't know,,,hmm. it was around 25 mph. it turned fast that is for sure.
Don't know what you have been doing with your other Peaks, but in my experience the 4m is best in around 16 - 18 knots. Like all small kites it is fast & sensitive to sheeting. It's useable in stronger winds, but I think you lose a lot of the qualities that make the Peaks fun when you use them overpowered.papasmerf wrote: ↑Sun Jul 11, 2021 4:10 pmjust rode my 4m peak 4, first time. not feeling the magic,, maybe i was over powered. if i let bar all the way out,, the trailer edge flapped like crazy,, one time i pulled bar all the way in, and it pinwheeled, only happened once, i depowered it a bit,, but kited for a while with it, trying to get it drift with no input and i don't know,,,hmm. it was around 25 mph. it turned fast that is for sure.
Im using 14meter lines on my 4m. Works so goodfoursquare wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 5:36 pmSo I've searched the thread multiple times on line lengths, but am confused on a few things. I've flown my 8m a few times in 9-12kts, but on my most recent session did have the kite invert on a turn and plummet into the water.
So, im interested in removing the 7m extensions and trying it on 14m short lines. Anyone have any riding notes on this?
Also, the bridles and line rigging with B-Safe is a bit of a headache. Is there a way to safely fly without it?
Thanks!
