Just heard that Peak V5 is coming in January 2022.
Yes, but possibly December. Flysurfer had an online dealer meeting recently. No major changes....Changes are new colors, and slight change to the wingtips, and a lighter fabric.... Flying characteristics are not changing, they said.
Will it be named peak5 then?

Porosity might not equate quite the same. Wouldn’t the main issues with porosity in a CC kite be loss of internal pressure leading to potential shape change while flying and water ingress when crashed where SS don’t have internal pressure except the tip cells and water ingress is already a moot point. SS sit deeper and rely on effaced canopy for shape so you might not see the type of change in performance you get with kites that seek the window’s edge for performance.

I’m sure porosity must degrade performance eventually but not necessarily the same for CC and SS kites. Bridle shrink would likely have more impact on how Peaks fly.

Not sure it’s easy to figure out as bridles will shrink and canopies will stretch. Perhaps just keeping the bridle properly proportioned instead of original spec is the way to go. Figuring out where they shrink most from Horst’s graphic and re stretching a few sections to best preserve overall shape.
thanks for info - i did not think about that way

Hi, as i have quite few Peaks and some of them has starting loosing shapes and they flies differently than new ones /back to back/ is there some easy method to refresh them? I.E. just lengthen Z or something like that. IMO full reset to factory bridle length will not work because also canopy is stretched. New kites have more power stroke and go upwind better basically which mean better L/D. Im sorry Foilholio is not here, as controversial as he was - he has down to earth bridle understanding.

Many thanks to any answer and also this is encouragement for group effort /Horst xls table etc.../
I've the same feeling. Mine is not as good as they were.
Have you checked the plastic battens in the front?
Mine has started to come out through the seams.

I havn't ridden any back to back, but I'm planning to get the new version when it comes out.
That said, it drifts even better compared to when it was new, so it's not all that bad. I can have much more slack now.
I used it a lot on Cape Verde where the wind is dead stable, and I didn't think about it.
For me it seems to more of a problem in gusty wind. I really going to buy a peak5 when it gets out and try them back to back.

Maybe we should do collective effort - based on Horst table. There should be usual pattern what happend to bridal and what to adjust to bring performance back. Without full bridal adjustment, which isnt sure to help at the end.
Where can I find Horst table?

https://flysurfer.com/project/peak5/

The new peak 5 is launched in the digital world.
First impressions:
-design looks like a single skin. Not a hybrid.
-there are two cells in the wingtips for steering vs. one in p4
-there could be a cool trim system that changes how flat or curved the kite is.
-sizes are the same except 3m -> 2.5m
-we have new colors. The holiday is here. Easter egg colors, yellow, rose, light blue grey.

Great news! Still strange that no specification data included. Just this:
How much does the PEAK5 weigh in comparison to the PEAK4?
The difference is marginal, but the PEAK5 has superior longevity, due to the TX-Light cloth and reduced flapping. In numbers the PEAK5 is 0,11 kg or 0,24 lb lighter.

It is a lot or not 0.11 kg ? Something more than 10 percents lighter?

We are awhile off for that. I'm assuming by the end of FS's 20 year anniversary.

Here is the comparison. The Peak 4 also has two cells at the tip btw. Overall it does not look like a massive change.
looks awesome cant wait to fly one, I have order a 2.5 already.
