Thanks Ice, I run on self-made V-bar with 17m lines, maybe that could be thing to check that if encounter tip folding, swap self-made to FS orig. Y-bar which I use in winter for B-line safety.

I did one moderate wind lake session with fs connect Y-bar and did not notice tip tucking. But I cannot be sure if the problem is gone as cannot be sure about highest winds encountered relative to V-bar winds.

OK - I was tempted too much and finally pulled the trigger on a 13m. Will report back after it arrives and I get my first session. Very curious if I will be getting some fun drifty downwind swell riding days when its only blowing 5-10knts. Figured it was a better option than one of these 8m hand Wings that are coming out now

You get wind swell in 5-10 kts ?? Remember the 13m is REALLY slow .I would try the 5 or 6m in 10-15 kts , most places don’t get any wind swell till 12-14 kts .

I was in serious waves with the 11m.. it gets fun with the 5m for me and it’s big fun with the 4m

I ride the 5m in 12 kts and find that I have to manage the drift carefully to not crash it if I ride straight downwind and the wind is light, so I imagine drifting in even lighter winds would be pretty hard. Keep us posted!

Yeah my expectations are low but I have had so many fun light wind sessions with my 5m that I could not resist Captain Kirks blow out. Definitely talking about actual swell in the water. Had a really fun session last weekend doing a downwinder in 8-10 knots with the 5, only really needed the kite to get me out of the water for the water start and on to the swell, once on the swell you can really make the peaks disappear. They just need a little back line pressure so you don't over fly them as you ride downwind on the swell. The 13m is 2x the weight of the 5m so I don't have unrealistic expectations, but some of the lulls on that downwinder just would not get me out of the water when it dropped on that run no mater how many loops I did with the kite, curious what it will be like with a tractor pull available on demand.

Keep us posted how that works . I had the 8m for that reason but it wouldn’t pull my 70 kg ass out of the water in less than 8 kts even with 30m race lines with super low loops . I still have the 4-5m but I need the 3m today so I’ll use my 4.5m Concept Air wave ( very good foil kite )

I have the 8 and 11m. I almost never use the 11 on foil as I can fly the 8 faster so I can get up in almost the same windspeed.
I don't loop it low when there is no wind. When I'm starting to the right I fly it to 10 or 11 and keeping it moving at speed directly to 2 o clock and sine it another time if needed. For me looping doesn't give more power or gets me up earlier. And the larger sizes are hard to loop anyway. It's more the speed of the kite and the direction its pulling that allows an early start on foil for me.

Agree, speed is key with peaks to get the pull, will certainly be interesting to see how often I end up choosing the 13 over the 5. Honestly would have considered the 8 if had been available on sale as well. With the 5 I have found big down loops that start sheeted out a bit and progressively sheeting in when in the sweet spot downwind are key to getting me out of the water. Once up i need to loop it few more times to get onfoil when it's really light. Fun way to practice sinker starts on the board. Was riding my 925 on the downwinder to so that made it extra challenging in the light stuff, had to use a swell sometimes to get on foil. I suspect the 13m will be much easier in these conditions.

Id imagine the 13 is really a glassy soul session kite. If downswell, is also downwind, your not going to get much wave riding in. Cross, or even cross off and you might be in heaven.
