Yes, the rings are so you can use any bar with this kite, no matter whether knots or loops, genius.

I also shortened my rear lines a lot on my bar, pretty normal for water use in waves I think.

I did this for my peak in size 4 and 5, but on the 8m2 it does not work for me like that. On the 8m2 i still like the back lines a bit longer than the front lines. So, the bar that i use for smaller Peaks does not work with the 8m2, without adjusting the trim. Am I the only one?

Funny, I'm the other way round. The 5m is my biggest and its the one with a little more backstall available at the bar. The bar I use for the 4 and 3m has shorter 17m lines at even lengths.

No you are not alone, pretty sure, as I recall, that I shortened the rears for the 3 and 4 and 5 m2 where I WANT backstall, so I can ride waves with the bar away from me when leaning into the bottom turn, without having the kite "flap".

Whereas not needed on the 8 m2.

But I only use the std 21 m lines two times, and have now switched to 27-28 m lines for the 8 m2, works so much better, and has this bar fixed always to the 8 m2 (and another one for the 5, and then I use the same bar for the 3 and 4 m2).

With 21 m lines I will almost postulate I dont get better lowend than with the 5 m2, and it feels wrong...

Now I use the 8 m2 from 8 to 10 knots of wind, and the 5 above that.

You could just add some short thin extensions to the rear lines on your 8, and everything is perfect with the same bar :thumb:

Thanks for the tip, but I allready have seperate bars for all my Peaks. :D
My bar for the 8 is loonger (60cm) and with longer lines (about 27 i think...). I am using the depower trim a lot on the 8m2 and never ever on the 5 and 4.

I am just wondering, if bad experiences from some of the Peak 8 users are related to using the kite with a wrongly trimmed bar... and that can be the same bar that works perfect with smaller Pekas... :o

No, the 8 m2 is good, but not in a league of their own like the 5 and smaller.

Never trust the default trim of any kite or bar, the first thing you gotta do is adjust the trim, and most often you have to ride a couple of times till you know the exact perfect trim :D

Peter,

I’m being a bit thick, but can you explain how the rings fit any bar. I’m going to use an ozone bar. Can understand the larks head over a ring, but how does the knot work?

Thread it’s line through the metal ring to make a loop. Then success.

You need smaller Peaks! Anything over 20 knots is 3m weather, maybe 4m if you want to jump.

170lbs, 1100 cm2 wing, like to ride in the kites true sweet spot. Enough power to get up and go easily, enough power to crank upwind, enough power to provide a little float and soften landings for strapless airs, not so much power that the kite flaps or cannot be completely shut off when heading down swell.

5m 11-16 knots
4m 15-22 knots
3m 20 and up.

For the first little while on the 4m I thought I wouldn't need the 3m.

I was wrong.

You can pretty safely and easily ride the Peaks into loads more wind than ideal. It just starts to dumb the riding down to what it would be with a small LEI. Rigging down maintains the kites unique advantages, and as the conditions get bigger and bigger, those advantages become more and more incredible.
100% agree. 90 kg and 1125 cm2 wing
