I side launch all my peaks all the time. Sand the upwind tip. Walk the lines 90 degrees to the wind. Grab the bar, hook in. Take a few steps to windward, Then step back, away from kite, peeling downwind tip off of the ground. When you have some wind blowing on the downwind third or half of the kite, commit to the launch by pulling on the front lines and stepping back farther. Peaks side launch better than any foil I’ve ever used (and there have been many). Best of luck to you. John

It is possible to sidelaunch a peak like a closed foil kite. Fold the tip, put sandbag on it, hold leeward backline so kite does not flip while tensioning lines. While the tip goes up it wiggles around, which makes it look like its not working so the nice people at my spot come to help. This is the hardest part of sidelaunching peaks for me: politely handsignaling that i dont need help while keeping the kite from folding.

You can peel them up from about 45 degrees much like most other kites.

Lines 45degree is important.
And then you pull only from downwind tip.
If you are close to 90 degree you will pull from both front lines and kite may go to power zone.
As the downwind tip rise start walking backwards

You can even land the Peak sideways, like a LEI kite. Only prerequisite is strong wind (strong for the respective size of Peak).
This is very comfortable, as it becomes impossible to land a peak (alone) in strong winds by simply steering it into the beach (this kite will not collapse when the wind is strong). Backstalling the kite to land it is too dangerous for me in strong wind (particularly if the beach is narrow and wind onshore).
I fix a rope to a suitable pole / fence before I go out.
When I come back and want to land, I gently steer the kite onto the beach where it stays stable like a LEI, then attach my chicken loop to the rope, walk to the kite and put it down / put sand on it.

I have always hot-launched my Peaks as it seems like the most straightforward way to launch them - using less beach space & allowing for simplicity & 100% success rate even in light or shifty side shore winds. This involves sanding the trailing edge. With the (rare) onshore wind I set it up as normal & tried to tweak the lines around enough to get air in the kite, assuming that it was doable. The weeds along the shoreline made this impossible leading to a lot of time spent in weed removal for my lines.
Next time I will try sanding the tip (which is what I usually do when launching my LEI kites).

Just put sand on the tip, not only the trailing edge.
Don't fold it, as too risky it will open prematurely.
But sand from the trailing edge and almost to the leading edge, at the windward tip.
Works like a charm for launching quite sideways if needed on location, or if really windy.

Hey Guys.
I've been using Peak4 for more then a 18 month only with HF, today I had a curiosity to try a Peak4 5m² on a wave board and T.T. The results were amazing, I could go upwind easy, I could jump (great lift but it has lack of hangtime , it's only a 5m²) . I'm really stoked how good this kite is.
Wind 18knots to 21 knots.
Does anyone has more to share?

Hey LeoLeal,
I've used my Peak 4's (4-5-8-13) on HF as well as TT in all kinds of conditions. The only area where they're not very fun is in the jumping. In my limited experience they are the least fun jumping kites I've ever used (or maybe it's just my lack of skill of course). They are pretty decent upwind, not nearly as good as a Sonic or Chrono, but they get upwind just fine on flat fast low resistance boards. I imagine that they would be tough getting upwind underpowered on a power sucking board like a Mako or other heavily rockered TT but I haven't tried. I've done fun TT upwinders on my 4 in 25-35mph, my 5 in 15-30mph and my 8 in 12-20 mph. I love them best for HF and they're the best kites I've ever used for air travel trips with TT/HF.
