True, be happy to find the limits, and super happy if you move them.

Dont cling onto what you have heard others say, that is not the way forward....

Be inspired by other riders, and find your limits yourself, moving these more and more :thumb:

moses 790 vs 633 is one size peaks difference
633 is 1200 cm - 790 is 1500 cm2
But 790 is slower. So what is better to use one size bigger peak but slower in turning or slower wing but faster peak in turning? Quite big dilema i would say.
My favorite set up for ride unbroken waves Peak4 5m² + W790. This wing glide better than w633 , when I say glide is when you let you Peak4 at 12 o'clock or loosing line tension. For me 790 turn ok, I would score a 8.5 for 790 a 10 for 633.

I didn't had a chance to try a Peak4 4m² but definitely it will behave better on waves than a 5.

One of my favorites videos showing THE DRIFT that this kite has .

Today I have a session in gusty inland lake, with peak 5m. Most of the time overpowered. +-20knot with 30knot gusts

The kite fold the wingtips continously and become difficult to handle.

I know I was out of range, but has somebody experienced that behaviour? ... I check the speed system mixer and is ok. Maybe there is a bridle out of specs?

Thanks in advance

Way out of range, 5 is ok in gusts to 20, but no where near 30. I rig down to the 4m in anything over 16

Flogging them above their range is how you eat through their lifespan.

I’ve flown a 5m Peak4 in gusty winds in that range and have also experienced lateral frontal collapse when sheeted out and maxed on power. No actual total frontal collapses occurred but it sure looked like that could happen in an extreme situation.

Get a 3 m2, a bit big when 30 knots, but possible.

It works from 18 knots, sweetspot around 22 knots for average weights, maybe more if flat.

Agree…

When this is happening you are so above the upper end limit of the kite that a 3 is probably perfect.

Try not sheeting out to much.
If its 30knots, you're way overpowered.

I noted one thing, when launching a Peak4 in 5 m2 in higher winds - and would hear if others have experienced this, or it was a "one off" single incident:

Wind was for 6-7 m2 tubekites on waveboards (not foilboard), and I put my 5 m2 Peak up dead downwind, in extremely gusty wind because of wind shadows (otherwise I wouldnt have dared to hot launch in this wind)

It flew and was easy controllable, but both tips where curled in.
Like the hard wind has shut the air intakes to both tips inflation points - I dont know...

I thought I had kinks on the bridles and was about to land it after some time - but then the tips opened.

From then on no problems the next hours when out - I disliked how it flapped like crazy when fully depowered in this high wind and you walk out and in from the waves, feels wrong and must be aging the kite fast?

But apart from that, even when walking out behind wind power stations so wind could not be any gustier - it worked great.
Did not fold or drop or do any odd things, even in this horror wind.

Out in the surf, on a "normal" waveboard, upwind was just fine, and riding the waves DTL was a great experience - it was so fast and nimble and easy to fly onehanded, and could drift, so I could ride a lot higher on the waveface when doing bottom turns and cutbacks, meaning the bottom turn even on small waves, was high on the waveface as it should be :naughty:
