In your opinion, could you jump with a peak 4, or more precisely, could you get enough lift to land softly?
In my opinion no. The Peak generates almost no lift which is why it's such a safe teaching kite.

If you want to boost on a foil board don't get a Peak. They are really only for people who want to cruise and ride swell.

I was worried about not having enough lift from the kite for helping with foiling foot switches coming from a hyperlink but I have had no problems and even found it better as I can get back on the power sooner . I have recently put 30m race lines on a bar and have used the 5m down under 10 kts as long as you can get pulled up onto the board with a long low loop. This kite has almost been a one kite quiver with exception to over 20 kts when I switch to a 4.5 Concept air wave.

If someone says I would love to use Peaks but am not going to because I like to throw in a jump every now and then, I would say “no problem, you can definitely jump them”. You are not going to win any jumping contests but they can easily be jumped with a hydrofoil.

Quick question about peak line lenght.

Do you guys find peak minimum line lenght where they still produce full power stroke? Im riding 25m atm. And have feeling that this is unnecesary long. So what line lenght are you riding. Did you experiment?

I have tried line length 14m, 17m, 28m on a Peak4 4m2. 17m is the sweet spot for me, but I still prefer 28m lines to my old 9m LEI.
With 28m lines I waterstart using a big powerstroke.
With 17m lines I sometimes have to use "flat figure 8" to keep the kite in the powerzone for longer. I do not mind doing this, but generally I prefer riding with a bit more power anyway.
Maybe it is time for me to get a 3 and a 5 :-)

Thank you very much for opinion. I definitely feel better low end on other kite with longer lines /closed cell/ as kite still accelerating through window. But with peak it feels to me as it have some terminal velocity and then it wont produce any more power. Therefore i think /but its just theory/ that with Peaks you wont gain low end anymore after reaching some line lenght.

Im trying find which one is it. :) So 17m is first opinion - I think i cannot feel any difference between 25 and 22 - so it seems i can go even shorter.

Any more opionions?

many thanks!

Its not just magnitude of power-spike, its also time. Long lines (27) help me get the best low end out of single skin kites.

i prefer then longer lines (~28m) since it seems like it gives more room for error in case that unexpected spill...especially in areas i'd prefer not having to swim back in.

if you ventilate under a reef break or find that chubby mako lounging offshore...is a reflex (at least for me) the the hand to leave the bar for a second.
maybe it is all in my head but the extra length seems...seems like it give more time catch the kite and keep it nice and clean.
