I guess Drexler dude is too good on hydrofoil, he very probably hasn't spend 2000 hours behind sewing machine and designing kites... He likes to talk a lot though and for sure he is enthusiastic for what he does.

Kite making by yourself is tough, many don't get how tough it is. But eventually it will give you full confidence and understanding how kites work and how they are made. Then you are ready to develop something new or to tailor kites for specific uses.

It is two very different things to make kites as a hobby or do some (small) prototypes than to fabricate them commercially.

I have a great respect for the designer of this kite. Despite his limited resources he seems to have dedicated all his effort into the one kite the FreeRS and in so achieve a quite refined product that makes it's owners happy. Comparisons can be made exactly to Greg from BRM, passion for something and singular push got him there. Imagine if multiple designers collaborated on a singular vision, like the whole industry designed a quick release together.

Too many brands in kiting have too many products. It just confuses people and doesn't make it any more fun.

Actually he is working on smaller HF oriented CC kite right now. In 4 and 6 size. But there will be no overlap in sizes with FRS. This will be strong wing kite. Main design focus was in this kite - except for obvious stability and drift mellow loop etc. was to have similar handling like bigger kite. I.e. not wasp fast and not too twitchy on sheeting. I think they are successfully beyond prototype phase.

Last 2 weeks I've been playing around (foiling only) with a new Kitech Free RS 15m ultra light in Hua Hin - Thailand. The wind over there in february - march slowly builds up during the day. It starts around 2-3 kts in the morning and gets around 12-18 kts in the afternoon. It was a good opportunity to test the 15UL in light wind.

As expected, the kite flies very predictable. It has the same ease as the 12m and 9m which I also own. It feels fast for a 15m! Power in the loop is gradual (not extremely strong) and it has a very manageable high end!

On my scale it is only 2062 gramms. The material is very light (27gr/m) but actually feels pretty firm to me.

This lightness you feel in the air! The kite stays in the air when you don't actually feel the wind. It is ultra stable and had no wing tipping at all. The kite never felt out of the sky, it stayed dry during 2 weeks of kiting (and learning new things!).

I managed to get out and tack/jibe in 4-6 kts (Onda / 21m lines). From 6 kts on with shorter lines. Sweet spot with 18m lines 6-10 kts in my feeling.

For me it is the ultimate session saver and gives me the possibility to enjoy mariginal/light winds and glassy waters, feeling comfortable at the same time!
A high end addition to my first review:

Today the wind was 16-18 knots (peaks above 20knp). I went out with the 15m FreeRS on 15m lines and hydrofoil (Moses 590/330/111 mast) and I always felt comfortable. Power was easy to handle.

Despite the short lines doing a lot I did not expect that I could keep the 15m in this wind so easily.
